My favorites are California Lager, Old Foghorn, Liberty, and Steam in that order. I regularly buy the California lager.

Hated their saison (not a fan of lemongrass), porter was just ok, I'm not a fan of bocks in general, IPA was ok, summer was bland, brown was ok, bigleaf maple I liked, and their holiday one for me is mixed. Overall I do like them and really love my first 2 favorites from them.

Love me some Anchor Steam. I truly did not care for their recent "Winter Wheat" nor have a been a fan of their Christmas ales in the past couple of years. But, they are still a good brewery.

Old Foghorn, which I'm drinking right now, and Porter are by far my favorite Anchor beers. Never have been much of a fan of Steam, California Lager or Liberty Ale, but I would take the Liberty over the other two if those were my only choices.

Agree OP. Just brewed an Anchor Porter clone actually... Currently fermenting but it is ruined by the heat in my place not working now.

I saw it last year at the trap rock tavern in Berekely Heights I do believe.

I never regret picking up some Steam or Liberty.

Seems like it's gotten mixed reviews but the price point is so good on their beers (usually $7.99 a sixer) that I'll certainly give it a try

I liked Winter Wheat. Not your typical winter release.

The new Brotherhood Steam collaboration is rather tasty. It's a hopped up steam beer.

I should have used great instead of good. Thats why I like them too. I think too many breweries are trying to do too many beers which drives down their quality and consistency but then on the other hand it does allow them to engage their creative side.

Anchor beers are a staple in my fridge. I particularly like California Lager, Steam, Old Foghorn, Liberty and the new Winter Wheat. I can see why their beer might not dazzle some folks looking for the latest hop bomb or barrel aged but I think they make great beer that I really enjoy. I'm a fan.

Their porter, to me, is second only to Founders. I actually need to pick some up next time I am out.

I have a lot of trouble finding their beer fresh around here for some reason; a distributor issue I'd reckon. I'd try more if I could get'em fresh, but all I've had so far is Steam and Porter, both of which I found to be top notch beer.

PS - Their date "code" is a really, really annoying, pointless system.

I love Anchor. They make "classic" tasting beers. Nothing cute, nothing fancy, nothing over the top. Just true to the beer, beer.

A pint of Liberty Ale tastes DAMN GOOD with a cioppino and crusty sourdough

Have had the same problem getting fresh Anchor in my neck of the woods as well....

Hopefully distributors and retailers will start actually trying to sell the great line up, instead of that "next big thing in beer" that always seems to be on everyone's mind these days.....

I am reading a book called The Audacity of Hops and the beginning of the craft beer movement and have great respect for Fritz Maytag who hung in there when craft beer was starting back up. He lost lots of money early on and continued with the dream. The Budweiser super bowl commercial where they attacked craft beer just pissed me off especially since they are buying up craft breweries left and right. If Fritz and Anchor Steam had not hung in there we would all still maybe be stuck with the American Lagers which were the only thing you could find back in the day. Lets all raise an Anchor Beer in tribute to Fritz Maytag and Anchor Steam Brewery!! Here's to you!!!
