Events that catch my eye on there are the Ridgewood taplist and the two different State of Beer ones. A lot of the others look they could just be any random night at each respective place, but still lots of good stuff. Hope the liver is ready!

North Street Beer Station. Four word preview that certainly peaked my curiosity.

Personally, I am excited to see Magnificent 77 again from Lonerider on the 24th. I know many dismissed it as gimmicky, but I enjoyed it last year.

I also am interested in the new Trophy can, Double Lutz. Not familiar with that offering, but based on thier recent IPAs I am willing to give it a try.

Did not see this specifically mentioned, but I know Bottle Revolution is releasing a new collaboration IPA from Southern Pines at thier anniversary party on the 22nd (draft). It is suppose to be a NE Style Mosaic brew, will be interesting to see if they hit the mark.

Double Lutz is new, it's basically a DIPA version of D.A.V.E. I believe.

Yeah I was not sure, since it is listed in Untappd with several checkins back in 2014. Maybe they just reused the name.

I think that's what happened actually, since they specifically say in the RBW blurb that it's a "brand new version" of D.A.V.E. I can't remember that far back, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the initial name for what became Double Death Spiral.

Yup, it's an imperial IPA based on the DAVE series recipe, this time with 2 hops: Citra & Callista. Should come in around 8%abv. We used the name several years back but this is a new beer altogether. Beer Week is looking to be great!

It's telling that the only events worth checking out are the one that have nothing to do with beer made in Raleigh.

Not really surprising, the strength of the Raleigh beer scene has been its bottleshops moreso than its breweries for quite a while now. I think that's starting to change a bit though with breweries like Trophy, Lynnwood, and Bond Brothers (yes I am officially counting them now). There's legit beer being made here whether you think it's reflected in this week of events or not.

Bond brother makes some decent brews. Trophy and Lynnwood are average, unless you're just comparing them to the rest of the Raleigh breweries.

Lynnwood makes a few really good beers (IPA/DIPA). I have enjoyed most things I have tried from Trophy and I think Bond Bros is hitting it out of the park.

Probably depends on the styles you enjoy.

I agree, definitely depends on the styles you prefer to some extent. All 3 of those breweries are making above average IPA's though IMO. But to your point for instance, I'd say Bond Bros has a fantastic range of beers that they've done well, but have they put out a stout on the level of BA Heavyweight yet? Well, no.

Of course, what styles you like and if you've drank actual good beers of that style to compare to. I used to think the strip steak from food lion was the shit until I went to the angus barn.

Would you be so kind as to enlighten us on what the better beers are that we should be drinking? Just wondering if you have anything to contribute of substance.

Oh and btw, the Angus Barn is flat out awful. Any steakhouse that has to wrap their filet in bacon to make it edible is hot garbage and I guarantee I can turn that Food Lion strip into something better at home.

It's like one of my local friends told me, the Raleigh beer scene is a mile wide, but an inch deep.

Personally I am glad people don't have the highest opinion of the Raleigh beer scene. I hope it stays that way, more for me, and I don't have to deal with the lines and people from out of town buying it all up to trade or sell. Those of us who live here, know what we have and where it is going.

I would argue that this is the case in pretty much every area of the state though. Lots of breweries everywhere, with each city having a handfull of good ones.

And I've never been anywhere else that had as many good bottle shops close by. Certainly not anywhere else in NC.
