I know, I know...USE THE SEARCH! But I have something of a targeted question.

I'm headed up to Raleigh tomorrow for a concert. Raleigh Brewing opens at noon and I love their beers, so I'm going there first. However, it looks like no other breweries open before 4 pm. So I'm planning a Nickelpoint, Neuses River, Trophy, Crank Arm loop starting at 4 before the show (at Lincoln Theater), but I have this open block of time from around 1-4. So the question is:

Is Lynnwood worth going way out of the way?

Are there any bars/restaurants closer to my existing stops that offer great taps and food?

Any obvious stops, bars or breweries, that I should make a point to hit? Obviously proximity is a factor here.

    Thanks all. Cheers!

I dont' think Hubris is on right now at LBC, but their other beers are still pretty good. I like them better than all on your list outside of Trophy. The Brewpub is probably 20 minutes outside of downtown. Being down near Lincoln you may just want to stop by Tasty Beverage, State of Beer, Busy Beer before the breweries open. Also Trophy's new production facility a little south of the city on Maywood Ave opens at 3....they will have 10-15 taps vs the 5-6 at the brewpub.

This is particularly helpful, thanks! Now I can do Fortnight on the way in, straight to Raleigh Brewing, then over to Trophy right at 3. Make Nickelpoint and Neuse River a later stop, or a skip if time does not permit (or if Raleigh spots nearer to the venue are worth lingering at).

Is Raleigh Beer Garden worth a stop? I know they have a million beers, but my fear is that just means a ton of old beer.

I think the Beer Garden is worth going to, if nothing else just to say you have been there. But you will likely have to park in a garage or a few blocks away, especially in the evening.

At that point in the evening, pretty much anytime after 6, we will most likely park at our downtown hotel and be on foot/Ubering. So no issue there.

Not sure which Lynnwood location you're talking about, but the new brewery is not far at all from downtown. It's right down the street from Neuse River and Nickelpoint, but yeah doesn't open until 4. It's definitely the best of those 3 IMO.

You can check the tap lists online for Tasty, Ridgewood, and Bottle Rev to see if anything sounds good. All are open earlier I believe as well as State of Beer, which has great sandwiches.

Go to Raleigh Times. Excellent food, great selection and good atmosphere during the day.

Not to thread jack or stray too far off point, but what's the show? Every time I've been to Raleigh I've tried to chase down Double Death Spiral but it hasn't been on - I'd make a beeline to Trophy on Maywood, as it looks like it's on there right now.

Titus Andronicus and Craig Finn (lead singer of The Hold Steady). Already made Trophy a must stop, this just confirms that.

You have a nice list of options. Tasty Beverage, Raleigh Times and Busy Bee are all walkable to the Lincoln.

Between drinks before and drinks after (avoiding whatever insane price concert beers go for), I expect we will hit several.

    Thanks everybody!

I pretty much consider both the Times and the Beer Garden tourist traps, but that doesn't mean a good time can't be had at either. As far as beer-centric places in the downtown area though, I pretty much stick with the breweries, the bottle shops, and Busy Bee.

In your situation I'd do RBC > Trophy > Crank Arm before the show and then hit Busy Bee afterwards. They have a new Belgian beer bar upstairs called Mash & Lauter that's pretty cool and is open late. Plus you can get some loaded tots if you're hungry.

Mix in Lynnwood and a bottle shop or two if you have time or to fill in gaps.

Raleigh Times is owned by the Douche Greg Hatem. I boycott all of his Empire establishments, I would recommend you do the same. Not to mention the beer menu hasn't been great in quite some time.

Busy bee is where I would recommend. Haven't made it to their new Belgium concept upstairs where the hive used to be
