I'll be in Raleigh/Durham next week (July 13-16) for work. Any recommendations on the best bottles shop(s) to visit? How about bars as well? Thanks!

Sams quik shop & glass jug in Durham. Bottle Revolution & Tasty Beverage in Raleigh. I'm sure there are a few other decent shops but these stick out as better than average. Anything in particular you'll be looking for?

I prefer Ridgewood for a bottle shop (a great draft selection also). It is in Raleigh, there is also a Whole Foods in the same shopping center and it is about five minutes from Bottle Revolution (on Lake Boone Trail).

I would recommend Busy Bee, Trophy and State of Beer (all owned by the same people) for bars / restaurants.

State of Beer is across the street from the Flying Saucer, and a few hundred yards from Staggs Head, Clouds Brewing and Natty Greene's (closing at month end).

If you were to start at Tyler's Seaboard station (parking is easy), you can take the R-Line (circulator bus), it stops very close to Flying Saucer, State of Beer, Staggs Head, Trophy Brewing, Tasty Beverage, Busy Bee and Raleigh Times.

    Thanks for the info!

I am mainly looking for Wicked Weed, NoDa, Terrapin, and other NC brews.

I doubt you'll find NoDa. They rarely self-distribute this far east (only a few deliveries a year). Shops like Beer Study and Glass Jug typically drive to Charlotte and bring back the goods. WW and Terrapin won't be a problem.

Go to Sam's, Beer study, Tasty Beverage, Busy Bee, Raleigh Times Bar, and Allen and Sons BBQ between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough on N.C. 86. There are tons of choices and you cannot go wrong! Also, go over to Saxapahaw north of Chapel Hill, towards Greensboro and experience Haw River Farmhouse Ales and environs. It is very special for sure!

    As far as bottle shops...

Raleigh: Ridgewood, Bottle Rev, Tasty Bev, & State of Beer. All pretty different, but all worth checking out.

I'll let the Durham folks cover that, but Sam's Quik Shop is an institution.

BottleMixx in North Raleigh is a pretty good one, as well as Bottle Revolution, they have two locations in Raleigh now, one in North Raleigh in Greystone Village and also one off Lake Boone Trail

3 different Bottle Revs now actually. I've never been to any one but the original though.

Great. Thanks for all the help. I'll be staying at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center at 4700 Emperor Blvd in Durham. Any of the above close to that?

Glass Jug is close. Probably less than 10 minutes

The morrisville location of Bottle Rev is pretty close to there too.

I'll never understand the fascination with Bottle Rev but your in Durham which means you need to go to Sam's Quik Shop!

Actually, Bull Craft across the street from Sams Bottle Shop carries everything else, but is exclusively NC Beer. They have draft only options from Asheville and Charlotte that Sams and other stores dont get since they go pick it up.

Thank you all, I really appreciate it!

One more question, I am actually staying almost right in between both Raleigh and Durham, so, if I had to choose one or two shops (in either city), which would serve me best? Largest, freshest selection!

    Thanks so much again!
