Any idea where to buy Winter Wheat in the Phila/Hbg area?

Well I'm guessing that you won't find it. I first had it on tap 4-5 years ago at a bar in Philly and loved it, so 3-4 years ago I tried to order a case of bottles through a retail distributor who was willing to go the extra mile and go out of his way to try to get it for me. To make a long story short, after multiple efforts over different two years of trying, we were not able to get it in bottles because it turned out they were not bottling it. Even a personal note from the to the brewery owner and head brewer directly with didn't help as they did have it to send to their PA distributor. It was all selling out in kegs in NJ.

While I've not checked in a year or so I don't think its gotten less popular in Jersey. However, if you do manage to find it bottled I'd appreciate hearing about that. Thanks!

A bar in Lititz PA had bottles of Winter Wheat for sale last winter. I got the last 3 bottles at a discount. An eighth of a case is better than none...

I've seen a few of their offerings on tap in the Lancaster area, but that was my only bottle sighting. I would love a case of Winter Wheat someday, it's only half a tick behind Aventinus imo.

Are you still located close enough to Lititz that you could ask the bar when and where they got it? I'm not sure I'd put it even half a tick behind Aventinus. :-)

Maybe a quarter tick behind? I go to Fiorentino's every couple of months, I'll ask next time I'm in.

Super, thanks. Also I'll check with my beer guy whose willing to order for me and if we have any success I'll let you know. I'd bet at least one place in your area would be willing to order it for you if its out there. (Although I'm not optimistic this long after the November release... :-( )

I receive emails from High Point Brewing am trying to plan a road trip to Butler NJ where they live. It's a long drive and I would like to stop at Weyerbacher on the way. Sampling might necessitate an overnight stay but it would be an adventure. Waiting for a break in the weather. Tough choice between WW and Adventinus. I'd kill for the Eis.

Sounds like a great opportunity to find out about High Point's plans for WW in PA. Good luck. BTW, Weyerbacher is a nice compact tour (one of the few my wife has enjoyed) and they make sampling their beers easy. And last time I was there you could buy a mixed case with you doing the mix of bottles.

I'd love to try that eisbock as well. How long has it been since they bottled it?

I've already made a note to mention it to the beer guy when I go in to pick up my expected case of Cultivator from Troegs. :-)

Glad to hear about Fiortentinos. Not been there but... Impressive tap and bottle list.

We don't get to Lititz often but like to do an occasional visit in warmer weather just to go to the Chocolate factory and wander around the park there. They've definitely stepped up their game for beer in that area.

Yes, Lititz has made great strides since I moved. Beer at the grocery store, 3 breweries (2 okay 1 terrible), and a couple of good beer bars (well, the Bulls Head is great).

I've seen a case or two of ramstein bottles on the shelves in the last month or so. Looks interesting after some research.

I'm pretty sure the Winter Wheat was only available at the brewery and very limited locations back in Nov/Dec of 2014. There is no hope of getting it now. It didn't even make it to store shelves in Northern NJ.

It was available on tap at the brewery (so growler fills) in last week's e-mail.

Right. And there have been kegs out and about too.
