Ranger Creek Small Batch Series No. 1

Rosedale market on 45th. Quite an awesome selection. They don't get wiped out a fast as whip in either.

 

Just opened another bottle, and it's definitely infected with brett.

Sorry for cheating on you guys, but I bought 3 bottles at Central Market. I drank one yesterday and didn't notice any sourness. It's okay, but I brewed better beer when I was just starting out. This is kind of disappointing for a "Small Batch" release.

 

Brett does not mean sourness. There can be many characteristics of infection, not just the generic sourness. If it is infected, it probably would not be a clean sourness but plastic, band aid, astringent, over carbonated, gushing...

 

There's certainly Brett in it, but I'm assuming it's intentional. I think the beer's pretty good.

 

I'm really gun shy on Ranger Creek. The last bottle of Pecan Porter I drank and shipped was infected. I have not bought another bottle since.

Just picked up a bottle. pwsoldier is right, that wax is funky! Unfortunately, the theme was continued with the beer inside. Intentional or not, the brett was not pleasant and I did not finish it.

 

Mine is definitely funky but not in a bad way.

 

I had it over Memorial Day weekend. I didn't have high hopes but I tried it anyway. I liked it alot. I did pick up the "brett", but I thought that just made it better. I did leave a bit in the bottom of the bottle so maybe if you pour the whole thing it could get a lot funkier. I thought it was a great beer though, and I bought two more today. The guy at Gabriel's wants to get rid of them because the wax smells like vomit (no effect on the beer though).

 

Had it at the Houston tasting last weekend and I thought the brett was very good in the beer.

 

haha that was the bottle I brought! I thought it was ok. I had Uno (supposed to be the same beer) on tap and it was nice and understated, but this was something else.

 

Drinking one right now that I just picked up at Alon Market. I was worried after I read some of the comments but I am enjoying it quite a bit. Getting a bit of brett but not in a bad way at all.
Scotty is right though, the wax is just gross!

 

The wax was quite a gag to pass around during the tasting lol!

I saw it at Alon Market also but passed on it bc of the bad reviews. May just have to give it a chance after all.

 

D&Q has it in stock. Is it worth seeking out? I don't get off till 7 tonight
