Rank Top Reviewers?

Someone on here has been maintaining that list, but the Alstroms have not incorporated "top reviewers" into the site. (yet...)

 

I tend to do a decent number of my reviews based on paddles that I get.

Anyway... 30,000? Holy hell.

I'm just starting to get near 2k and I sometimes think "holy fuck, that's a lot of damn beer". 30k? HOLY FUCK, THAT'S A LOT OF DAMN BEER!

Not to be a cynic, but are you sure they are real reviews? 30k reviews at 1 review a day is 82 years. I'm not sure how long RB has been going, but lets just say 15 years. That is about 5.5 beers that you have never had before every single day. I guess some reviews could be from notes or memory from before the site was established, but I just have a hard time believing anyone is drinking that many new beers. It seems far far more likely that someone just goes in a rights random crap, or copies a previous review.

 

I hear ya. I hit 1907 today and can't really fathom 30k.

 

Are all of those top 4 reviewers part of the Danish group that gets together to try different beers? I read about them some time ago.

Also. Some of those ratings are ciders and sake. So, not quite 30,000 beers.

 

Actually, no. There's a pretty fun documentary on Hulu, called Tickers IIRC, that follows a group of Tickers in England. They follow a dude to a fest where he has his, again IIRC, 40,000th tick. It's a pretty fun movie, I recommend it.

 

Is top reviewers based solely on # of reviews or on karma? Anyone know? I was thinking reviews since karma went away for a while.

 

Thank you for bringing some statistical reality to this string. I knew it was f'd up when I read the title before I even clicked in. 30k is a high enough number to make me think there are not that many beers in existence to even try.

 

There are 90,000+ beers in the BA database alone. RB has a significantly higher number.

Just watching that now, he said he has been ticking since about 1980 and he was up to 38,500 .

 

I would like to see that list.
