I just read through the Frost Pack thread and did not know there was that much excitement for lagers. I don't have anything against those that appreciate those styles and I apologize if my post came across that way. There are very clearly more types of beer geeks than I originally thought. There are those that geek out on traditional styles, those that geek out on over the top American styles and those that just enjoy all good beer. In general I geek out on over the top over hopped beers and big barrel aged beers, my point is there are different breweries that serve different purposes in the beer world. The traditional ones will continue to sell the most and will survive longer than most that are opening, but the new ones trying new styles will probably elicit more excitement overall within the social media world of hype.

So they're... Joe Mauer in 2009?

Sorry, just now saw this. The Mosaic keg blew last Tuesday, and I'm out of the state until Weds, so not sure if a new IPA Is on. They supposedly have a new secret one on deck. Hopefully you got to try it (or maybe they still had an extra Mosaic keg waiting).

You were close enough, so I hope you popped over to Forager as well. Saw they had Decent (one of the better NE IPAs in MN) & Pudding Goggles back!

Yup no mosaic, tried the session IPA and a few others. Defiantly hit up forager. Heck went back there after grand round and LTS. Decent was pretty good but no pudding goggles when I was there

Perhaps previous batches? This batch looked like brown-ish swamp water and was easily the worst beer I've had from forager.

Damn. Yeah, I didn't have any of the recent ones. Previous batch was great!

While Untapped users skew towards the beer geek side of the scale, many of the noobs seem to rate everything 4.5 or higher until they stick around long enough for rating deflation to kick in.

Throw into the mix that there's no guidance on what the ratings are supposed to mean - some people seem to rate to style and give, for example, the best Kolsh they've ever had a 5, while the majority rate on personal preference as you described.
