Did you end up going? Would be curious to hear other's thoughts. I was there a couple of weeks ago and wasn't that impressed. The food was pretty good, but neither my wife of or I loved the beers. Their taplist was dominated by beers on the "lighter" side or the spectrum, and doing samplers, they all kind of blended together in my mind. Taplist: Honey Ale, Pilsner, Lager, Acton Ale, Blonde, Pale Ale, Rye IPA Again, I'm no expert and would like to hear other opinions, but unless I missed something, I probably won't be heading back soon.
I thought the food was mediocre as was the beer, although my wife is a big fan of the Rapscallion Honey. We were a bit disappointed that the wonderful aroma of smoked meat wafting through the air wasn't actually available for purchase(at that time). We also witnessed an odd interaction with a group and what I presume was the manager: Manager: Hiya folks, sit anywhere you'd like. [Group shuffles towards a table] Manager: Oh, not there folks, sorry. There's a woman coming in and that's her favorite table. [Group reluctantly chooses different table] Manager: Oh wait, was it that table? Hold on, let me double check. [Group mumbles amongst themselves] Manager: Yeah, I was right. That's her favorite table. Then there was a long, humorous, conversation where the group tried to order mimosas but were told they couldn't because they didn't have champagne. When they inquired if they could have mimosas with the sparkling wine that was on the menu, they were informed they didn't have orange juice. As we were leaving a woman wearing a full length fur coat walked in and was shown to her favorite table. Long story short, I had a great time except for the food. And the beer.
I dropped by for lunch. Atmosphere was great and service was fine. The day was perfect to sit on the patio. None of the beers on tap sounded interesting, but I got the Blonde. Not very memorable, very mediocre. Got the burger, again it was average, but the coleslaw wasn't too bad. Probably won't go back unless there was a special event or a better tap list.
Reading about the evolution of Rapscallion Brewery (formerly Concord) brings back fond memories of the brewery (brand) in the late 90s/early 00s....then headaches since. http://drinkrapscallion.com/about/ Lots of brewing talent passed through there. At one point, Concord made arguably the best IPA in New England. And that Grape Ale wasn't too bad either. :0)
Concord Junction Porter was pretty Damned good. They were onto something back in the early 2000s. Changed hands many times since.
As a long time fan of Concord Junction Brewing and Rapscallion, I have to say I was pretty disappointed. Nothing in the current lineup compares to Rapscallion Blessing, which was a pretty darn good beer back in the day. The Concord Junction brews were all solid. None of the original brewers or owners are involved now, so the only thing that remains is the name. My wife and I sampled the Honey, the Pale Ale, the Black IPA, and the Summer White. All were really mainstream. The first two were drinkable, but not remarkable in any way. The Black IPA had a nice roast coffee flavor, but I'm hard pressed to call it an IPA, as it was not very hoppy. The Summer White was a beautiful honey color and had nice rich mouthfeel. We both ended up having a pint afterwards because it was the only one we really enjoyed. The food, though, was awful. The wings tasted fine, but the skin was thick and tough like leather. The mussels were not fresh at all. A lot of them were not open and the others were dry and crumbly. I was kind of scared to eat them, but at least I did not get sick! I've read some pretty good reviews of the place, so maybe it was a bad day, but I'd hesitate to go back.
