Rare DOS?

    Can someone tell me about this beer? Obviously I have next to nothing to trade for this but just want to see what this is all about? It's all over the place in the ISO:FT forum!

    They came out with a Wild Sour Ale and will be coming out with Strawberry Rhubarb beer pretty soon! I live 15 min away from the brewery :slight_smile:.

    I guess the reviews can help me fill in the gaps. I just wondered whats the story is about this. Obviously it tastes good per fellow BAs.

    I love Pegs. I'm in the area a few times a year but have never got the timing right on those beers. A friend bought a case of Rare Dos, and is shipping me a bottle here in Texas - can't wait.

    The beer was as high as #11 on beer advocate's top beers, last year. I think its 114 now. It dropped because it didn't have enough reviews when they changed the ratings calculations, but it's a 100 (World Class) beer.

    Pegs is a VERY SMALL brew pub on the Gulf coast of FL, south of Tampa. They make a couple amazing beers. Up until very recently (within the last year) they were not even able to distribute due to their specific liquor license. Now they are, but they still produce small batches and distribution is very limited (it may just be kegs to other bars/restaurants). Rare DOS is probably their most famous beer. Its an incredible bourbon barrel aged imperial stout, honestly one of the best beers Ive ever had. As Wicked said, prior to the change in rating calculations it was very highly ranked in terms of the top 100, and was very highly sought after. Looks like it still is, which makes sense because its definitely worth it. Im glad they made enough to have a whole case limit per person. Means more people will get to try that amazing nectar of the gods.

    Although I love the shit out of Rare and RareR DOS, Doug's wine barrel stout and RareR DOS w hazelnut are two of the best damn stouts I've ever tried. I hope to see more of both.

    Well last time I was at a Pegs release, which granted was probably 18 months ago, they only had about 25 bottles total (of all bottles combined) that they gave out. And none of it was Rare. So having enough to sell one case to multiple people is more than that.
