I had a bad one the other night as well, hoping my second one is good.

We opened up a bad growler tonight. Pegs contacted me within minutes apologizing and offering to make it right. Class act.

Opened an infected guy tonight :slight_frown:. Was tasty two weeks ago, but was pretty bad this time around. Tart/acidic red wine + some buttery nasty. Had been in a fridge since I got it too. Have one more I fear may be a lost cause as well.

    I think youll be ok.

Weird how all the "infected" ones are being reported out of state. Could it be the result of travel, or something else?

7 now for me have been splendid.

Opened a bad one last night, and I'm local. Been in a temp controlled fridge since I got em. Have 3 more, and I'm not optimistic. But Doug and the guys at cycle are first class. The program they will announce for the bad bottles is sick. But I won't spill the beans.

I'm gonna crack another Rare later today, the curiosity and dread are palpable at this point...

Well, there goes your conspiracy theory. "A" for effort though.

Conspiracy theory? It was a plausible explanation, and still is.

A conspiracy theory would be to say, people are taking advantage of Peg's class and trying to recoup some or all of their $20. But nobody would do that, right?

Thanks for trying to be a dick, "A" for effort though.

Have you opened any that have been fine? Curious to what makes you pessimistic about the other 3?

OK. Agree to disagree on the growler thing then.

Hostility aside, nice flat stick. Wish I could afford one...I'm still gaming my 10+ year old Never Compromise mallet.

Fair enough. I was never suggesting a conspiracy, it just seemed perhaps they didn't hold up well over travel, since at that point all the complaints here were from out of state.

The Cameron was a present to myself for taking 2 years away from BA, trading, etc. you'd be surprised what you can afford with all that saved.

What is really troubling me about this thread is that everyone is practically thanking Pegs/Cycle for selling us infected growlers! Everyone is complimenting them on how "stand up" they are being because they posted 2 paragraphs on BA about how they'll stand behind their product. It's only words at this point, has anyone gotten their money back or a replacement?

"Hey, why are you being a dick about this?" Is probably the consensus about this post at this point. I'll explain:
In March of 2012 Pegs had an event with a bunch of their Rare beers, one of which was Rainbow Jelly Doughnut and I ordered 2 glasses at $10 a pour. When it arrived it smelled and tasted like someone had dragged their foot through someone's butt crack and dunked it into the beer. It was completely disgusting. I left my two full glasses (with one baby sip out of each to confirm the taste) on the table with the other pours I had drank of Rare DOS, RareR DOS and a couple of others and paid my bill without making a big deal out of it since I suspected it would have been a sensitive matter to Doug. A day or two later a thread showed up on RB and/or BA and PEGSBrewPUB addresses it and says they'll "make it right" for the people that had paid for a horribly infected beer and they admit to knowing it was infected after the fact. I sent Doug an email and he replied saying "I'm putting together another event in May and I'll get you tickets to it or growlers or something else to make up for the issues with the Jelly Doughnut". I have the emails still and get pissed whenever I come across them.... So I contact Doug a couple of days before the event since I couldn't make it and asked if he could get me a growler of one of the beers since I can't make it down and that I will be down to pick it shortly after the Berliner Bash.

His reply was the day after the event and he said "Just wanted to let you know that sadly I don't have any growlers and that particular beer is retired, Take Care" I HARDLY CALL THAT MAKING SOMETHING RIGHT! Promises are only as good as the people making them. As Tommy Boy so graciously said "Because they know all they sold you was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will". So until I see them actually making good on this problem I have my doubts.

And in full disclosure, LIKE AN IDIOT, even after everything I just posted here, I bought 9 growlers of Rare DOS and 3 each of the RareR and Nooner. I've sent most of them out to trade partners so it looks like Pegs has fooled me again.

I have opened 2 so far. The first was excellent, the one last night, not so much. I have sent 2 out to tradng partners and one of those was infected, the other, I have not heard. Don't even know if he's opened it or not. I'm just concerned that the infection is starting to rear it's head. I was going to send the rest of my bottles out via trade, but now I probably won't.

My comment was aimed at them even responding at all. I can only base my opinion & response on my experiences with Peg's and I've never had a bad one. I gave all of my Growlers out to trade buddy's, so I hope they are ok.

I can appreciate your frustration though, based on your story.
