    Hi there,

New to the forum, not new to beer. Wondering if anyone knows of a list or calendar that shows (approximately) when the rare stout releases are? For example, it's fairly predictable that Dark Lord Day is late April / early May. Pliny the Younger always early February (not a stout, just using that as an example).

I'm planning a few trips in 2018 and want to see if I can coincide them with special releases. I know some of these (like Founders CBS) were not announced until a month or two before -- but I thought maybe there's a list or calendar for the more predictable things. Thanks for any help.

    Tony

I would figure out where you're visiting, when you're visiting, and look at the local brewery facebook pages to see what's on deck. I would also frequent the local forums. Welcome and good luck.

When I travel I look at the regional forums including the state I'm traveling to and follow some of the threads for what's going on in the area. For instance I traveled to FL a few weeks ago and followed the South Atlantic forum and found Funky Buddha was releasing Morning Wood close to when I was going to be there. I then mapped out a few stores in the area and scored a bottle and a few others things to bring home. Also, get some JetBags on Amazon for packing bottles in your luggage.

I don't know of one. I think you just volunteered.

How rare? I presume KBBS qualifies, CBS qualifies, but maybe KBS doesn't?

There are none that I am aware of. Just check local area your heading to or forums for that area.

Pretty much along those lines. For example, I can travel pretty much anywhere I want to the weekend of Jan 19-21 or the weekend of Feb 16-18.

If a calendar existed, I could plan the location around that. But the hard part (actually the cool part because breweries aren't just chains that do everything the same each year) is that it's not exactly predictable year-to-year. Even more tricky, even though a lot of breweries release their 2018 release calendar, those calendars are still too general for the special releases. They keep those off a lot of the calendars.

Best you could probably do is troll a bunch of IG accounts or sites like TenEmu and put something together on a Google calendar. Most breweries have their own separate release calendars as well. It will just take some compiling on your part. Maybe build a website around it?

So like go to a breweries instagram, find the post with release info for Rare Stout XYZ and make a note of the place/date/time/format, then leave a comment along the lines of "your guys' beer sucks!!! and also - your mom!", and then move to the next?
