i am still seeing these for trade regularly and curious if these were counter pressure filled (with gas blasted in before the fill). i have to think that if not, they are suffering and i'm trying to understand why so many of these were held onto for so long. i've had swing top growlers lose carbonation in 3 weeks and that release was a while ago now.
http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/rarer-d-o-s-growler-question.61340/ I asked the same thing a week ago and got a couple replies. For what it's worth, I had a growler last week and it was fantastic. Lower carbonation but that's how I personally like my stouts.
What this gentlemen said. I had one this past Thursday night and it was awesome. I am working to get another one by the end of the week.
I was told that they weren't CP-filled, but I opened mine a little over a week ago and it was damn fine. I just wish they came in something bigger than 500ml...so good!
my understanding is bottom filled via tube, no co2 flushing. we've opened 2 in the past few weeks and both have been great, no carb issues.
Mine opened with a nice pop and had a fantastic taste and mouthfeel. I found the carbonation level to be well within the acceptable range for the style.
I'm opening mine this Fri nite. I hear there have been no real issues with it so feeling pretty good about it. I can promise you that I'll use a careful method for filling my gut though.
