I was thinking about throwing out some decent bottles for people who don't get the chance to try them examples Rare, Growler of Czar Jack, Black Tuesday, Dark Lord,Darkness etc. I was just going to ask for locals, regionals or seasonal releases. I'm not sure what would be a fair value to ask in terms of amount of return. Thoughts of the community would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm say probably 25% - 35% over $4$ is fair. I would love to get a hold of any of those. Let me know if I can be part of this awesomeness.

I'd certainly throw out maybe $40-$50 worth of stuff for a BT, and I'd take a stab at the Czar Jack (not sure what it takes to get one of those) but no interest in the others.

So 'yeah' if you're talking straight-up locals, I would say $45 or so for a BT.

Definitely I'd be willing to throw out good stuff for Rare and others. The way I'd think about and some of your other potential traders is:

If I saw *insert beer here* for *$* on the shelves would I buy it? If the answer is yes, that's how much over $4$ I'd be willing to go.

I guess IMO it depends on who you are trading with. If you throw out a FT:ISO I would expect above $4$ for more "rare" beers (how much guess it depends on what people will offer for it). But, if I am trading with regular trade partners I would be much closer to $4$ for them. Not sure if that makes sense or is "fair", but just my 2 cents I guess.

Thanks for bringing this up Marty.

This is a great idea for us newer guys. There are a lot of beers out there I just dont have the ammo to trade 1:1 or 2:1 for. I'd be more than happy to put together a box of quality beers from my area to be able to taste and cellar some of the big daddies! Hope this becomes a trend as it gives more people the opportunity to share good beer.

I'd say this is how pretty much all of us got into the 'deep cellar' territory. I've managed to get 'loons and CBS at the store before. I've only recently acquired some 'really big' bottles. Ie: Izzy and Duck Duck Gooze. That was because of the generosity of another trader giving rarity and receiving my quantity. (Chocolate Rain, Brute, and a bunch of Bruery RS stuff to be exact)

Glad to see traders willing to go rarity for quantity and include everyone in this beer game.

Do it! It's just beer and I bet that you would find that the person recieving any of those killer beers will want to be generous to reciprocate. Plus thats how you establish good/regular trading partners.

Sorry guys it is my daughter's Birthday so I have been tied up today. To be honest I don't even have to post an ISO locals because I have enough bm's already. Thanks for the help! I am just gonna go down the conversation list in order of who sent me a conversation first, and see who wants what. Plus so a couple people get some stuff.

I think this is an awesome thread. I have been lucky to this point in my "trading" career that a few people have given me the chance to share quantity over quality. I have received 1 or 2 of my big wants for 5+ bottles of less rare items. I think that the generosity of the trader is something that we should all try to do. Paying it forward is something that I personally feel obligated to do since many people have hooked me up with some great extra's or let me send quantity for quality.

If anyone reading this thread is willing to do that....I have quantity and am looking for 4 beers (GI Rare, CBS, Churchill's Finest, and Black Note).

    Great post/topic, OP.

    cheers

What kind of things do you have quantity wise?

The rarer beers i have traded, i have always tried to get quantity back, especially if i had 2 of the beers, like i did with a bourbon county rare. I would rather get a bunch of beers not available in my area to keep things fresh

Agreed that this is a very righteous thread and generous offering. I've done a little on my part but not to these types of great measures. Very nice to see this generosity here.

Just to bring this back...... Adam is a great BA for sure! My box to him has landed, and I received this from him a few days ago:

Blown away by the generosity..... I didn't have enough room in the box nor ammo in the cellar to make up for the amazing extra (09' Older Vis) he sent, so I fully expect to re-use the box he sent the growler in, to send him a tasty treat once I find something worthy on tap locally.

I don't know what's worse..... the fact that I feel guilty for being on the receiving end of this much generosity, or the fact that generosity like this is even rarer than the rare beers it revolves around.

I hope you enjoy the (1st) box Adam. If it weren't for the occasional act like this, I would probably move outside of the city limits of this "Trading Community" we have here.

Anytime you need something from the Ohio market, just let me know.
