raspberry chocolate porter

    Buy them and test them out in a glass of commercial porter. My bet would be that they are better than nothing, but they might taste synthetic.

    I've never used the artificial flavoring in a brew, but I have not heard very many good things about them. That being said, I added frozen raspberries to my last porter. I added 1 lb to 1 gallon (plus red wine & oak). This definitely imparted a strong raspberry flavor. If price is a concern, just do 1 gallon with puree or better yet frozen berries to make sure you like it. Another tip... Go easy on the black patent. The harshness does not go too well with the berries, IMO.
