2014 bottle, definite raspberry in the nose and a strong raspberry taste on the tongue. Thought I was making it up, had a buddy taste it (for the record he has had FIS only once) and he agreed and said whoa that's crazy. Has this happened to anyone else? I have been drinking FIS for some time and have never experienced this. Also, glass was completely clean, no previous beer or soap residue.

May have been a bottle / label mix up. They did a raspberry stout called big lucious or dark lucious or something like that.

Oh no, those two beers are BIG raspberry bombs, I have had both. The one I'm drinking is much lighter. Also, those two beers were only released in bombers, this is a 12 ounce.

Also, this is too heavy a beer in color and flavor for it to be a mislabeled Rubeus..

I get notes of slightly tart, sometimes dark, fruit in many imperial stouts. I usually associate it more with red grapes than raspberries.

Drinking a FIS at this moment, in fact. There's a touch of that same tartness, but less than in many other stouts. I wouldn't personally call it raspberry, or even think that it's all that noticeable, but I could see where you're coming from.

A bottling date might help. My FIS, dated 12/15/2014 and 12/22/2014, didn't exhibit this particular quality. I will say that it seemed less hopped than in previous years, only adding to its "drinkability." Mine were very chocolate and licorice forward with a hint of smokiness.

    Never got that from FIS.

Interesting. Im gonna try one myself now. This is why its fun to taste beers with others. We all pick up things a little different . I can't stand a massive IS that all you taste is alcohol.

Very interesting, and distinct, flavor to pick up. I've also never tasted that in a FIS, and I'm all too familiar with Founder's raspberry brews.
