I could have sworn that my bottle of Rasputin XII (consumed in January) was 22oz.
Only after thinking they looked small next to the bombers in my cellar, I confirmed that the latest vintage (Raspy XIV) is in 16.9 oz. bottles.
Was there a change in bottle size, or were they always 16.9oz?

Agreed, the shape of the bottle is funny and I too thought they were 22 ounces until just recently.

Same. Never thought any different until I tried to pour the rest in my glass... No dice.

Glad to know I'm not alone. Have to say, the smaller bottle made the >$20 price tag sting a bit more!

If you look at the bottom of the bottle there is a huge punt in the bottom. If you don't notice the volume or the bottom of the bottle, you might think that you were getting more beer for the high price tag. I am not a huge fan, but it doesn't keep me from buying the beer.

You are correct sir. Still have 2 bottles and have spent over $100 on that beer.

As much as I enjoy plain ol' Old Raspy, I'll choose it and pass on this from now on.

The glass also seems to be much thicker than normal bottles.

Ya the bottle is deceptive looking. Great beer but not worth the price tag IMO. Much rather get a Parabola or Abyss.

I always thought it was a larger bottle as well. Amazing how years can change perception.

    Cheers!

I've been drinking the Rasputin Anniversary beers for a few years now. I only just realized a few weeks ago that they're not 22oz/750ml. I felt like the price was steep when I thought they were full-sized bottles. Probably one of the priciest distributed beers out there.

I bought it again this year, but I'll probably pass on them going forward. Good beer, but too many other fantastic barrel aged stouts out there. Parabola is a better beer IMO, and I can buy it from an online retailer for less money even after shipping than a bottle of Rasp Anni off the shelf.

I think the glass is super thick as well. Definitely one of the heavier empty bottles I've held.

Yeah, I'd already paid like $25 for the first bottle I saw (and felt pretty lucky) before I got it home and realized it's 500mL, same volume as a bottle of Pliny. Then I started seeing it other places for like $21 and felt doubly foolish. It's still on shelves here.

I remember making the same connection with Pliny.
