Hey guys I just moved and now find my commute possibly bringing me past various Decicco's. Been hearing about these guys for years and have never found myself in one. Now I will be within range of many on a pretty regular basis. Ardsley Harrison Pelham New City (a bit of a stretch for me) Scarsdale Pretty much looking for bottles, not necessarily growler fills. If I'm not mistaken the Ardsley spot has the best rep but please correct me if I'm wrong. Are some of the above not even worth dropping in to? Thanks all.
I've only been to Ardsley and Pelham and they pretty much have the same bottle selection, so I'd suggest whichever is closer between those two. Can't speak for the others...
Ardsley is great, and evidently expanding into the space next door to really grow the beer department. Also hear great things about Armonk.
For bottles, Ardsley and Pelham are similar in the size of their bottle selections, though I think they have different items in stock. Harrison's bottle selection is good, but not up to snuff if comparing with Ardsley and Pelham. Scarsdale shouldn't even be in the same discussion. For growlers, Ardsley, Harrison, Pelham (none in Scarsdale as far as I could tell). Ardsley has the best selection, and updates their list frequently. Harrison has a good selection, but they never update their public list. Pelham just has a smaller amount of taps. I've also heard really good things about Armonk, though I haven't been up that way yet. If you are coming from CT, that may still be in commuting range.
I've only been to Ardsley and Armonk and while everyone knows how good Ardsley's bottle and growler list can be not a lot of people know about Armonk which is a treat. They have a great bar/growler station upstairs where you can sit in peace and have a drink while their bottles fridge area downstairs is very extensive and is a hidden gem. Wish it was a bit closer to me though. Check them out.
I used to think this, but Armonk is going to challenge it very, very soon. Both are spectacular in my book, and wish RVA had the kind of bar/beer selection available.
I really like the Armonk Store, good bottle selection (soon to get bigger when they open the upstairs bottle area) plus they have a bar upstairs. Brewster is supposed to have the largest selection but I've never been there. Pelham seems to have things sit around for a while so you can usually pick up something with some age on it (a couple of weeks ago I picked up a 2012 Juliet and a 2011 Lolita...), Ardsley has a good selection but they seem to get picked over much quicker than the other stores
Loved Harrison. Went there last year and they had tons of BCBS. They also get every backstage Founders and other one offs. You just have to ask the guy behind the cheese counter if they have anything special for sale.
New city isn't owned by the same part of the deciccos family that owns all the good ones. Think corporate owned vs franchise owned. Armonk was built to be like Brewster and my one experience with the Brewster store was amazing. Ardsley is fine. Not a huge selection but they get some really limited stuff. My new find around there is foodtown express in Yonkers. Bit further south but they get some nice things. A whole case of Midnight sun berserker was just sitting on the shelf where deciccos had 3 bottles left.
