I am disappointed that you are not able to rate breweries anymore if they are breweries only. I don't understand B/A's opinion to let the beer speak for themselves, most of the time the vibe, atmosphere and service has a lot to do with the breweries' character. Of course the beer is the most important aspect of a brewery but your total experience is also. In the past I was able to rate and comment on World Class breweries such as, The Alchemist, Tree House and Hills Farmstead just to name a few which are all breweries only. I also like to look back at the not so famous breweries during our travels and see what a rated them and the review and comments I wrote.

It's not like this is a new rule. It's been this way for a very long time. If a brewery doesn't have a public space (uncommon, these days), you can't rate it.

But you can rate The Alchemist, Tree House, and Hill Farmstead, because they're not just breweries, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Not sure what you mean by a public space. All that I know is that I was able to rate breweries that are just breweries as resent as last summer. Such as Slack Tide, Fost Beer Works and River Roost which all of them are literally shacks that have just brew beer with little or no "public space".

Nothing has changed on our end.
    • Slack Tide = Brewery, Bar, Beer-to-go
    • Frost Beer Works = Brewery, Bar, Beer-to-go
    • River Roost = Brewery, Bar, Beer-to-go
All ratable as they've been tagged as having public spaces; places to drink and buy beer-to-go.

Thanks Todd for your replies. It pretty much comes down to how a fellow B/A Member adds a place. So if I was at a particular Brewery and I am not able to rate it.and they have a bar and beer to go, i could suggest an edit in the report feature? My wife and I travel and love to go to small breweries. I like to record these adventures through B/A so other can read and we can go back an reminisce. Thanks again for your time.

Public space would be a serving area where a customer can order beer and sit and enjoy it, i.e. a bar or taproom. A brewery-only business sells their beer to distributors. Some may sell direct to the public, but there's nothing about that process to justify rating it.

Yes. If a place is tagged a just a "brewery," but it clearly has a place to also drink on-premise and/or sell beer-to-go, submit an update and the mod team will handle it. :+1:
