I don't agree with rating skunked beer. If your beer is skunked, don't rate it. Pale lager styles are underrated enough, and looking through the ratings for Hofbrau Original I see tons of 2.0> ratings complaining of skunk and off flavours.

I understand criticizing brewers for using green or clear bottles, but the reviewer has the responsibility of checking bottling dates and purchasing beer that isn't sitting on warm shelves under fluorescent lights. I buy fresh examples of imported lagers all the time and they are some of my favourite beers. If you are rating beers you should know by now what a light struck beer tastes like and you should return the rest of your case/pack to the store.

    Would you rate skunked beer?

The store will more than likely do nothing about it, or anything having to do with losing money.

If it's passed date, sure! But if it tastes funny? Nah. While in your heart you know it tastes different, they more than likely won't take your word for it. They'll tell you to contact the brewer or something.

As for rating skuners, I don't see a problem? It gets the word out'ish, tho I feel like making a thread would be more helpful. I believe I rated my skunked Victory at Sea, but I'm not positive.

As long as people are pointing out the problem, and just bashing the beer.. I have no problem with it.

    apparently you can't read:

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/how-to-review-a-beer.241156/

    specifically:

    Don't Review Bad Beers
Not a beer that you simply don't like, but rather a beer you know to be spoiled due to reasons outside of the brewer's control. If you come across a beer like this, alert whoever you purchased it from and send a note to the brewer. Using a review to bitch about it won't help anyone.
