Just bought a bottle yesterday. Looking forward to trying it tomorrow night. Hop Head Red really blew me away. Yum. People and their "balance". How silly.

I just had a few bottles tonight. I liked it better the first time I had it. The end.

Rayon Vert was a beer I really enjoyed but didn't see a lot of similarities to Orval, and was not what I expected when I read "Belgian Pale Ale" on the label. I've had it a few times since I reviewed it and noticed it changed slightly each time. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not.

    cheers--

“I read "Belgian Pale Ale" on the label. I've had it a few times since I reviewed it and noticed it changed slightly each time. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not.”

The label also states: “Continuously Evolving”

I bought a four pack a few months ago. I had the last of the four pack last night. This beer certainly did “evolve’ over that few month timeframe. It “evolved’ for the better to my palate; funkier with age.

Rayon Vert is indeed a tasty Brett Belgian Ale.

    Cheers!

Since this thread is still around, I guess I'll give my two cents.. it's a great beer, I've had it fresh and loved it.. the mouthfeel is world-class. I really enjoyed the hop profile, I just wish the hops were more intense, but overall it's an excellent beer. It's easily the best BPA I've ever had.. Green Flash is awesome..

Yeah, you know the other night I had a bottle of Le Freak and I couldn't help but be stuck on the fact that the mouthfeel was just so, so good. In fact I'm not sure why I didn't give the feel a 5-rating, if I didn't.

Obviously the majority of a beer is in flavor and aroma and whatnot, but for me, I think there are some finer points of the brewing process and knowledge of brewing that come out in things like appearance and mouthfeel. Le Freak was basically top-notch in both regards, and I think that can only come from a legitimate mastery of zymurgy, from a technical standpoint. Like, Green Flash, you really utilized the shit out of that yeast. And I think Rayon Vert is a shining example of that, too.

I've found this beer to be terribly enjoyable and it does indeed evolve with age (or whatever their tag-line is...). I sat on a few bottles for a couple of months and found them to be different animals and now I'm looking forward to trying a couple of singles after the 6 and 9 month mark. A working-man's Orval, indeed.

This beer is awesome. I can't even count how many four packs of this I've consumed. But swearing off Orval??? That's a bit harsh. This beer does give Orval a run for its money, but Orval is king of this style. Rayon Vert is the closest it can possibly get though.

I was at my local pizza place the other day and saw RV on their rather extensive beer list. Ordered up a bottle and found it to be great stuff. Hit up several local shops and finally found a 4 pack to bring home. Better than a basket full of warm puppies.

One of the best American-made Belgian style beers I can think of. Reminds me of Orval a lot but not quite on that level (although for the price I will certainly consume more Rayon Vert). I was very happy when I first tasted it. I find the balance in this beer hard to come by in many American interpretations of Belgian styles.

As someone who unashamedly visits dailypuppy.com on an almost-daily basis, that is a tall order, dude. But you may be right.

Now that I've had Rayon Vert and Orval, I can safely say that while Orval is crafted more carefully - Rayon Vert's more enjoyable to me. The fact that a four pack is the same as 2 11.2 oz bottles of Orval makes the choice pretty damn clear to me.

I have to say this one is an eye-opener for me. I can't say I've had anything quite like it, and I would drink it again. I like being fully aware with every sip that I'm drinking something that has been intentionally crafted to have a unique character. That is the whole point, right? Anyone care to point me in the direction of some other bretts?
