I have no advice as to your rayon vert query but if you like this beer this much try and trade for some New Glarus R&D golden ale its 100% Brett fermentation. It came out a while ago as a brewery only beer (same series as VSB) but they made a ton so it shouldn't be hard to find or trade for.

Rayon Vert is the closest ANY brewery has come to replicating the brilliance that is Orval.

I will send Chuck Silva flowers if he decides to bring that one out of retirement.

I'll gladly be the contrarian here and proclaim Rayon Vert to be one of the worst Brett beers I've ever had the "pleasure" of drain pouring multiple times. If they bring it back, hopefully they have figured out how to not make it smell and taste like band aids and burnt rubber carbed to the max.

I have to believe they produced some batches that weren't vile because plenty of people claimed to like it or maybe they just liked how it cost a fraction of Orval and really wanted to have a Brett beer in the fridge to impress the ladies. BTW, that's not even a thing. Women don't associate your sophistication with how much Brett beer you have. Trust me.

Regardless, I got punked three times by the Vert. That's nine drain pours for those of you who are keeping score. Never again!

Love this beer. Glad I'm not in the minority. Bring it back GF!

Well, I'll guess I'll be sending Chuck Silva some flowers, huh?

I've never seen Rayon Vert in a bomber, but they changed their labels last year, so it should be pretty easy to sort out. When I heard they were putting it on hold I bought a bunch of four-packs. I have three or four bottles in my fridge and pour one every couple of months. Tasty stuff.

I dont remember if this beer was ever released in bombers. But they could've tested it out in a small distribution area when it was first released and then moved to 4-packs. Either way, this thread pretty much supports my reasons for why I never buy green flash. Even kegs are a toss-up most of the time.

The bombers you mention were more than likely bottled 18 months ago. From the ones I have had they are delicious so I would recommend getting some. RV will be coming back at some point in 2015 in 750ml cork and cage bottles and draft. When that is depends on how long it takes to get the Poway facility up and running. There are 3 releases that will come out of the facility to start with then RV and other beers will start rolling through there, both BA beers and non. The timeline is still up in the air but RV is going to be a priority. Poway has taken a little bit longer to get up and running than originally planned but these things happen. Next monday and tuesday the foudres, fermenters, bright tanks, and bottling line will be put into the building so hopefully test bottling can start early February with first 3 releases in the months after as soon as we can get them out. As we have never had a second facility, let alone a funk/sour facility, we do not have a definative timeline but are trying to move along as quickly as possible. We in production all love RV and were bummed we stopped making it but are really looking forward to getting it out there again in 2015. Thank you all for your support. Pat.

I purchased a single, 12 oz. bottle a few days ago and drank it last night. And yes, pouring it was a challenge.

I get the comparison to Orval, but to me Orval outclasses Rayon Vert by a mile. I liked Vert pretty well fresh, but when I aged some the brett just got nuts.

I remember seeing them the first time around, but passed on it. Maybe give it a try this time around..

When pouring this beer I use a wide mouth glass. It's still tough, but it's better than a tulip

Hope they brew it on the east coast when the Va Beach facility is up and running! My favorite from GF, even if it took 20 minutes for the head to subside enough to sip.
