I recently received a package where one of the extras leaked out all over the bubble wrap and packing peanuts. Generally i try to re-use as much as possible for numerous reasons.

    a) i'm frugal
    b) keeps that crap out of the environment
    c) etc

should i bother re-using the materials (bubble wrap, packing peanuts, plastic bags, etc) as they are covered in beer? My only concern would be if i re-use them and the recipient of my package gets paranoid and claims on of my bottles leaked since everything smells like beer...etc

I wouldn't if it's bad. You wouldn't want sticky bottles.

Can you wash the bubble wrap and plastic bags? I would think a little warm, soapy water followed by a good air dry overnight would take care of most of the beer residue.

The peanuts...those things need to be tossed.

yeah i kinda figured. Seems like such a waste but it sure as hell isn't worth my time to try sorting which pieces have/smell like beer and which don't. I was just kinda curious how picky people are.

As a pseudo bottle collector (I take pictures and then recycle them), I would be upset if a bottle came, and the label was all stained and nasty. I only had a problem like that one time. I was trading with a noob, and he asked me if I wanted him to tape up the bottle. Of course I thought he meant a couple wraps of electrical tape around the top, so I said sure. He wrapped the entire bottle from top to bottom, covering the label, which was ruined as I peeled the tape off.

I was pissed, but I pretty politely corrected him on his mistake.

I've gotten a couple of bottles where the label was all taped to hell, but I really never cared because I was more interested in the contents:wink:. The being said for some reason when I get a bottle with a half pound of electrical tape around the cap I assume the shipper hates me. Not sure why, but getting that crap all over my fingers annoys me to no end. I know people think it helps, but I really don't think it does anything other than get me riled up.

If you ever need packing material please let me know. I have more bubble wrap, bubble bags, nice foam padding, boxes, etc. than anyone would ever need. I can send some to you free of charge, but I can't send any beer...I'm wrapping up a few trades at the moment and then I need to take a break until the ridiculous heat "takes a break."

You need to quarantine the aforementioned packing materials.
