I just had this beer at the Pinocchio's Anniversary party, and this kills Pliny and Hopslam in all kinds of ways. This is probably the best beer ever, facts being facts, so go get some!! I just had a Hopslam today, and this beer is way hoppyer. I can get some of this for trade, btw, even tho this is a DONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You had a Hopslam today? In December?

Yeah, I have no doubt that it was better.

I had more than one, thank you, and am very happy about my decision.

    Hoppyer? I'm in!

PS- Hoppier is a very nondescript word. Really useless without further explanation.

Very distinct grapefruit, peach, citrus, and every other note you'd like to get from an awesome IPA note. Straight up, it was awesome, like Biggie droppin' rhymes.

Other than no acronyms can we also have a rule where people write the name of the brewery for new beers. I have no fucking idea what this drunk guy is talking about.

I thought we were talking about Pliny and year old Hopslam....now Abrasive too?

The brewery is the Iron Hill in Media for the Pinocchio's anniversary party. It's an IPA with galaxy hops, and was most excellent, so I'd advocate trying it.

I would just like a serious discussion with some other people that had the good fortune to drink this beer today about where this would rate as compared to other great IPAs. I felt that it was a must try!!

This website needs a "drinking" smiley face. I would have left it with an arrow point at this post.

I've had Real Boy at Iron Hill Media last time Bob Barrar brewed it. It's an awesome IPA. I live in VT and drink a lot of HF, Heady, and Lawson's, this right up there with them. Not sure what it's labeled as but I would consider it a DIPA (I think it comes in around 9%).

No offense, but there are about 300 beers I can name off the top of my head that are better than year old Hopslam. You do realize that it is not even a shadow of itself fresh? In fact....Hopslam is one of my three "5" beers, but I debate drain-pouring it after 3 weeks old.

    OK....JK on that last part.

I'm sure Real Boy is Real Good but we've all had local beers that blow us away when we catch it fresh on tap. You'll be hard pressed around here finding folks to bypass Pliny, Hopslam & Abrasive for "Real Boy."

I don't want to be rude to you, but comparing any fresh IPA/IIPA to any year-old IPA/IIPA is almost always going to yield a taste victory to the former, fresher one. That is the nature of IPAs/IIPAs. You'd be lucky to have a good tasting IPA/IIPA after six months, and even that is blasphemy to a lot of people on this site. Of course, this is all not to mention that most people find Hopslam to be one of the fastest to drop off in flavor among all IIPAs.

You may have encountered a great IPA/IIPA, but you can't really judge unless all its comparisons were equally as fresh.
