Rebel Rouser Double IPA - Sam Adams

Had a couple bottles this weekend. I was happy with it.

 

It's not a game changer, it's actually just what I was expecting from the Rebel line; a hoppier/boozier version of the malt forward Rebel IPA. I still think it's false advertising to call it "west coast" style, but don't dislike it at all. I'd give it a B rating.

 

I picked up 1 six pack. Enjoyed it for what It was, a solid DIPA for $11. Went back to a few local stores to grab another 6. Sold out from the 3 stores I checked. Definitely a cross over beer for BMC fans. Hopefully they get it into cans.

 

This beer is really good! Up there with dirt wolf for sure.

 

Got this last week and my feelings are the same as most in here: pretty good, not actually that hoppy, decently hidden booze. Not the first DIPA I'll head to the store looking for, but a solid back up option for sure.

Unfortunately for Sam, here in Mass, a deliciously smooth DIPA came out in the same week: Cape Ann Dead Eye DIPA. It's around $13/4 pack/16oz cans vs Sam's $11/6 pack/12zbottles but it's a markedly better DIPA, brewed locally-er, and something I'll be hunting down again.

I'm only comparing the 2 because they are MA brewers with DIPA's that debuted in 2015. But once again Sam comes in 2nd.

I believe this was supposed to have Galaxy...I didn't get that at all. Anyone else get galaxy out of this?

 

I don't even think it's remotely close to being comparable to Dirt Wolf, but to each their own.

Rebel Rouser is much, much more malt forward than Dirt Wolf IMO.

 

It's been a while since I've had a nice fresh DW but I wasn't expecting to like Rouser and was very very pleasantly surprised by it.

 

What's the distro on this beer? I have yet to see it and we get a ton of Sam Adams stuff, it's not even at Total Wine...
