Recently, a number of threads in the NW forum were "locked" for no apparent reason. As near as I can tell, it appears this is a new "bug" in the system, occurring whenever an older, longer thread has been dormant for too long (roughly a week it looks like). The site seems to automatically show the thread as closed, even though it appears to not actually be closed (I just ran several test posts, and in each case I was still able to post a response. Even as a moderator, this is something I'm typically unable to do without unlocking the closed thread first. In fact, initially that's what I attempted to do - unlock the thread - but was unable to do so, as it's not actually locked.). Anyway, I'll bring this to Todd's attention ASAP, but wanted to apprise everyone of the reason for the recently locked threads in the NW forum.
I thought it particularly odd that the 2 NWWBAYDN threads were combined and locked. #1 was already locked.
Hmmm... I hadn't noticed that, and now I'm wondering if that was intentional after all. That doesn't sound like an IT glitch, as I'm pretty sure merging threads requires a volitional act. Anyway, I posted an explanation/clarification request post in the moderators forum, and so hopefully I'll have an explanation as to what's going on in the not too distant future.
