I am looking to get a proper beer cellar going, want to get a freezerless fridge. Do not want an upright freezer as if the temperature probe breaks I can't risk freezing all my beer.

    Something like this:
    http://www.sears.com/kenmore-16.7-c...p-04660722000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

Only problem with that is the shelves do not look that adjustable, and no local store near me (St. Louis) has freezerless refrigerators on the showroom floor.

What models do you guys have or recommend?

    Cheers!

That one should work. I have a Frigidaire that I modified the shelves on and it works ok. Check out Lowes and Home Depot, too! May be come holiday sales. Also, check out 6 or 7 pages on this thread. There are a few ideas here.

I have the one OP mentioned and love it thus far. Not to much shelf adjustability but the wire racks simply pop Into holes in the side so I redrilled some for the top shelf to lower it a bit to have more bombers. I so think the way the shelfs and shelves in the door are it will hold more than the frigidair ethos posted.

Nice, thanks for the information! Do bombers fit on the shelves on the door? Think you would be able to take a photo of what you are able to fit on the shelves on the door? I would greatly appreciate it!

My problem is my cellar is almost entirely 650-750's, under 20 12 oz bottles. maybe 12 375's.

Oh by the way, I am ethos, I am OP. ha!

Oh haha. Sorry bout that, was in a hurry posting that.
But yeah no problem. Only the bottom shelf will hold 750/bombers. First and 3rd shelves will hold standard 12 ounce bottles and the 2ed and 4th will only hold shorty 12 ounce (like founders)
But I can (and probably will) raise the seconded shelf in the fridge to make the top 3 shelves hold 750/bombers by drilling new holes for the racks like I said in my last post.
Hope this helps. Any more questions feel free to ask

Really good actually. That's what I keep the water bottles in there for. It's about 2.5 degrees or so

Why not buy a used stand up freezer from Craigslist? (Buy one with elements inside freezer walls; not the shelves to avoid condensation problems)

Switch the freezer thermostat for a refrigerator thermostat. Done

I don't see how your beer can freeze accidentally with a refrigerator thermostat installed. It's been done many times. Buddy of mine has has his running in the garage for 5 years now.

Thanks for the great idea! I just found a Freezerless Kenmore on CL for $200. Picked it up. I plan to drill holes and re-align the shelves.

Did you just "pop" out the plastic shelf hole inserts and re-insert them into the new holes you drilled? Just as simple as that? What did you "pop" out the shelf inserts with as to not damage them?

Finally, what was the size of the hole you drilled?

    Thank you!

    Cheers!

Sorry I just saw this. But yeah I just poped the little plug out with a flat head screwdriver. Simple as that.

For the size hole, it was bigger than any drill bit I had so I just drilled a pilot hole then moved to the biggest bit I had and "wallowed" the hole out moving the drill in a circular motion till the plug snapped in again.
