Such a huge category. Tank 7 as mentioned, any of the Hill Farmstead ones, Fantôme Saison, Hennepin, anything SARA, Funkwerks Saison, anything OEC, anything DuPont.

I view Blind Pig as the non-imperial Pliny, and since OP didn't like the bigger version it's unlikely that the smaller version will change his/her mind.

I thought I couldn't get into bourbon barrel aged beers but backwoods changed me (with the help of some BA quads). Backwoods is a phenomenal beer. If I hadn't had that, I would be saying recommend me a bourbon BA beer here.

EDIT: I've found that I just don't like bourbon flavors imparted on a stout. I think they work much better with other styles. Backwoods Bastard has been the best BA beer I've had thus far, but, BA belgians work really, really well. The bourbon flavor and the belgian yeast are a great pairing of flavors that I would like to see more of. Just keep your bourbon out of my stout :stuck_out_tongue:

I was about to say add barleywines to my edit, but I have Mirror Mirror in the fridge right now that I'm excited to try as Deschutes has yet to do me wrong.

Holy crap, I entirely missed part of the entire point. :grimacing: I recommended a Scotch Ale, but I didn't mention what style I don't really like!

I've never had a...Berliner Weisse that I like. Had Nomader Weisse from Evil Twin, and didn't really like it at all.

Rauchbier. I like bacon and I like beer. I don't like beer that tastes or smells like bacon.

I've despised every Belgian-style IPA that I've tried, except Bitter Monk, which is one of my favorite beers. Is Bitter Monk simply an outlier, or are there others that will change my mind about the style?

Hommel beer from Perennial is a Belgian pale ale. It is less malty than most Belgian pales and IPA's IMO. You may like it! I do.

Fresh Rauchbiers don't smell like bacon- they have a clean malt flavor along with the smoke- but if you have tried Schlenkerla and didn't enjoy it for whatever reason maybe try some other smoked beers, like smoked porters. Alaskan Smoked Porter is the one to go for.

How 'bout some good dry Tripels? I like Westmalle, but am not so crazy about Le Fin Du Monde.

I actually have a Yazoo Sue from a trade. Didn't know it was smoked. Have yet to try it. I have not tried Schlenkerla but will seek one out. Thanks!

I don`t like Korbinian either, which i find the "less exciting" from Weihenstephan, but have to love the Doppelbock style. Ayinger Celebrator is delicious in my opinion, but you might find it too sweet as someone commented. I suggest you to try Paulaner Salvator, the original, on tap. And then come back and tell me. I had it on a Paulaner House, so i guess everything was fresh and carefully served, and it was quite a revelation. Much better than the bottles and my best experience with Doppelbocks by far. So fresh, drinkable and delicious that it was borderline dangerous.

Curiously i see that there is a Paulaner Brauhaus in NYC, but in the website there is no mention of their Dopplebocks, the beer names are all in English and they even have brewed an American IPA! A bit weird...

I LOVE Lagers but still have to find an Eisbock that i can enjoy. Too sweet and malty, too much alcohol...i just don`t get the whole concept of the style. Same for the Euro Strong Lagers, which can be terrifying sometimes.

I just find that FDM starts out very nice, but then gets kind of cloying and overbearing by the end of a bomber.

But you just reminded me that I did want to check out the St Bernardus Watou Tripel one of these days (hopefully as part of the X-mas gift pack), so thanks for that. Cheers!
