Hi everyone, I'm looking to meet up with some friends in a nice town with a brewery, or if not, something else cool to do for an afternoon--a distillery, good restaurant with local taps, etc. They live in Ithaca, and we're driving from Wallkill. We're looking to meet somewhere in the middle, so maybe an hour and a half drive for each of us. Anyone know of somewhere like that?

    Ommegang might work.

This is very likely too close to you and too far for them for this particular trip, but someplace to check out some time is Catskill Brewing in Livingston Manor and Roscoe Brewing in Roscoe. They're close enough together that we usually hit them up on the same trip.

Catskill has the better beer (lagers and sours in particular), but Roscoe is nicer to hang out at.

Best bet for sure will be Beer Tree, just outside of Binghamton, which is making some of NY's best IPAs right now.

If you've got the time on the way there or back, I second TongoRad's recommendation of Catskill. Getting their black lager on draft would be worth the trip alone.
