Morning wood by Local Option. More amber than brown but its oak aged and fairly easy to get find.

+1 on the Surly option. Drive to MN or wait for the Chicago distribution.

Indeed Burr Grinder was a wonderful coffee ale, not sure if it comes back as a seasonal this fall but hope it does. Morningwood by Local Option is pretty good, if a little sweet. I think DFH Indian Brown is awesome, as someone above mentioned, but it's not a coffee brown IMO. It's a hoppy, caramel-roasted brown ale that is awesome in its own right though.

Wow, a brown ale fan! The best I've ever had, Founders Frangelic Mountain, was a one-time release so thats out.
But the best regular one I've had is Wild Heaven's "Ode to Mercy" Its from Atlanta/Ga if you can access any. Great stuff.

Pretty sure you don't get distribution up there, but Cigar City Cubano Espresso Brown Ale is fantastic.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just drank my last can yesterday now I have to wait until surly starts supplying to Chicago again!

Wolaver's Alta Gracia Porter has a great coffee flavor and would probably qualify as a brown ale depending who you ask (for example BJCP lists brown ales as a sub-style of porters) http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/119/53767

I second Surly Coffee Bender. Sort of a brown/porter hybrid. Chicago might get it when Surly arrives there later this month. If not, I'd be happy to trade you some.

Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar. I know people bash on Rogue, but this beer is really tasty.

Founders did the Frangelic Mountain Brown a bit ago, not sure how available that stuff still is. For what it's worth, I thought it was rubbish. Hazelnut is not a flavor that belongs in coffee in my opinion and it most certainly doesn't belong in beer.

Distribution area is pretty tiny at this point, but if you get a chance to try it, Madtree's Gnarly Brown is a nice example. It's more of a brown ale/porter hybrid than a true brown ale, but there's plenty of creamy coffee roastiness. It's really a great beer.

This is the best that I've had and it was fantastic.

I've had Coffee Bender and didn't really like it. The coffee was overpowering and way too bitter to my taste.
