I am going to be visiting the Cincinnati area during the last week of August. I would love to get some recommendations of a good brewery or beer shop to visit while I am there. If there is a beer release or some other kind of beer related event, I am all ears. I am not very familiar with any breweries in that area so knowledge would be greatly appreciated. I am big stout guy btw.

    Thank you and cheers!

Breweries: 50 West, Listermann/Triple Digit (same brewery), Taft's Ale House, MadTree

Bottle shop: Cappy's (40 taps as well)

There have been a few threads recently in this forum asking the same question if you want more detailed information. Also, you may want to check out the Places tab.

Taft's was cool although I loved the atmosphere more than the beer personally &Rhinegeist was cool too but for sure you need to hit Madtree

I have not been there yet myself but have heard good things about Urban Artifact. The beers I've tried from them have been very good.

Don't leave without going to The Party Source just across the river, and/or Jungle Jim's

If I had to pick just one brewery (based on beer alone) I would go with Mad Tree

If you are driving up, I would love to work out a trade for some Funky Buddha stuff  I've got some local Barrel Aged Stouts that could use a good home.

In terms of bottle releases I don't have anything on my agenda yet, that might change by the end of the month.

For my money the best dark beer in Cincinnati is made by Listermann / Triple Digit Brewery. They have a Hazelnut Double Brown Ale called Chickow! that is amazing. They do different variants of it throughout the year. They also have a Peanut Butter Porter called Nutcase that is really delicious. Right behind them I would have Taft's Ale House in terms of dark beer.

MadTree is my favorite brewery in the city, they have a consistently great line up, their RIP Axis Mundi is really good.

If you can make it out to Cappy's I would. They get pretty much anything that comes to Ohio that's rare, the problem being the secret is out and it all goes very quickly.

Party Source across the river and Jungle Jims both have great selections and a large amount of beers on top.
