Unfortunately, back to Hoppin Frog Boris, and Nebraska. One will eat up most of a $20 bill the other more, and neither are worth it.

Haven't seen the Williamsburg Alewerks Cafe Royale in a while but the BB Porter is around . Saw it at two stores here in SE VA last week . Only 8-$9 for 22oz . Good stuff .

BBA Boris is awesome, it's expensive but that means you actually see it sitting on the shelf for more than a few hours, unlike some of the other beers mentioned in this thread.

BA Boris is ok, funny it costs more per bottle than Lindley Park and Event Horizion which makes it a no buy for me.

There are some delicious BBA stouts coming out of Texas. Karbach has BBA Hellfighter and Cherries of Fire, Saint Arnold's Bishop's Barrel Series has been awesome, and 512 Brewing has BBA Pecan Porter.

Blasphemy from Weyerbacher is a very good BBA Quad that is sold for $6-7 around these parts.

St Arnold's Bishop Barrel series is the best in my opinion which isn't an opinion it is fact.

VA? You really should give Williamsburg Alewerks' Bourbon Barrel Porter and Cafe Royale a chance. Also Hardywood Parks' Bourbon Cru and Bourbon Barrel Gingerbread Stout. TBH, the Bourbon Cru reminds me a lot of Dragon's Milk.

My fellow Virginian, get your hands on some Williamsburg Alewerks Bourbon Barrel Porter. More like a stout than a porter IMO, and you will not regret your purchase.

Mikkeller Black Hole Bourbon. Yes it will be a bit pricey but should be easy to find and a good intro into the BA world. Not as good as US versions as much more Euro palate but a good intro.

Barrel-aged BORIS is not very good. Nebraska is not worth the money. Weyerbacher's Heresy is not good either. Stay away from these, you're better off with Dragon's Milk, and it's more readily available.

As pointed out above, Williamsburg Alewerks Bourbon Barrel Porter is an excellent beer. More is due out by the end of the year. I recommend stocking up on 8-10 of them, this beer is like a bourbon punch in the mouth when fresh, and really becomes outstanding as it mellows a bit. Best barrel-aged bang for your buck, by far. I find Cafe Royale to be a sweet mess, but maybe that's just me.

Dark Hollow is a nice BA Stout, and coming from a young brewery. I hope to see more stuff coming from them...

The BA Rasputin is only 500 ml (<17 ounces) - they just make it look like a 650.
    Thick bottles.

Another thumbs up for Blasphemy from Weyerbacher--avail in NC and not real hard to get ahold of. Reasonably priced for a BBA stout although Weyerbacher is never cheap.

Looking today, Nebraska stuff is more expensive than_____ insert Stout here. Ridiculous.

The fact is there is no such thing as a cheap fully barrel aged beer. The ones you see that say bourbon aged and cheap are only partly aged in barrels or only aged for a short time.

I suggest waiting for the special releases and spend your cash on those instead of the common diet barrel aged stuff like dragon’s milk and The Kentucky bourbon stuff from Lexington brewing.

If you must and can’t wait Allagash, Eclipse and the mentioned Hoppin Frog makes some good stuff that’s always around, but not really worth the price. With that said, Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout is 25 % and cheap. For the IL crowd Pipework’s BA smoked Porter (close enough to a stout) is cheap and fully barrel aged.
