Eclipse is really good stuff and lots of varieties, still it's a $30 brew. I like them a lot though.

Obviously, KBS, BCBS and Black Note are world class, but nearly impossible to find.

BA Borris, which I think is great, is widely available but expensive. I also really like Uinta's Labyrinth and Epic's Big Bad Baptist - Labyrinth is easy to find. Olde Hickory's Event Horizon is phenomenal as well.

I am probably alone on this - but I really think Flying Dog's BA Gonzo and Foothills' BBA People's Porter are bad. But try it for yourself and see.

As far as BBA Barleywine's: Uinta's Cockeyed Cooper, Weyerbacher's Insanity and Southern Tier's BBA Backburner are great.

The BA Peoples Porter is up and down, mostly up and when it's up I think it's more than very good, most excellent, but what I've had lately has a ton of oak, too woody for me. I'm used to bourbon hot from foothills, and it's still a ton of bourbon, but the oak is too heavy. maybe in 6 months.

If it's the Wild Turkey bottle you're talking about, fairly cheap, like $8 for the bomber

well since I am not sure where you are from my VA brother, but guessing Roanoke! If they get Alewerks out that way a once in a while Cafe Royal, BB porter like my friend larry mentioned

But All over VA Blue Mountian Dark Hollow. its a very good bourbon stout, not too bad on the wallet and not too hot. nice chocolate and caramel notes. good beer

You're getting ganked on the Old Rasputin. 10.99 for 4pk 12oz bottles around here.

Damon is probably the best out there.

    1. Find a friend from Wisconsin.
    2. Beg them for Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout.

Alternatively just wait until Goose Island BCBS comes out, have one or two fresh and sit on the rest.

whatever you do, stay away from BCBS, KBS, Black Note, and Parabola because you wont want to drink other BA stouts after that, jk of course. aside from those, Dark Hollow is decent but id say too pricey for what it is. the best values ive come across with BA stouts are Big Bad Baptist and a couple from Clown Shoes(Very Angry Beast and Porcine Unidragon). in my opinion BBB is just as good if not better than some of the very highly acclaimed stouts out there. i would buy BBB and Very Angry Beast every time i saw it.

I have had the CWBBS but IMHO it does not compare to GI BCBS although there is a $7-10 difference on a 4 pack. I have had the last 2 years of each and GI BCBS easily beats out the CWBBS. Central Waters has a Bourbon Barrel BarleyWine that is word class though and the same price as their BBS. I would recommend trying to find that one over their BBS even though I am not a big fan of BarleyWines and one of my fav styles of beer is Bourbon Barrel Stouts
