Headed on a mini vacation in mid-April to Anna Maria Island, flying in/out of Sarasota. So...

--Any stores/brewery recommendations for to-go options?
--If at store, what breweries should I be looking for?

    Thanks!

Definitely go to calusa but since you are out that way I'd also check out motorworks in Bradenton. It's not a terrible drive to go over the skyway and check out what St. Pete has to offer as well.

Calusa is a must-stop. They just sold out of Zero Zero cans, but will have new cans in the cooler tomorrow (Focus IPA and a Hazelnut stout).

If you're going north to Bradenton, either go to Darwin, or just keep going further north to St. Pete. I'd skip Motorworks. Average beers at best, and the only selling point is their large space.

Mandeville Beer Garden in Sarasota is a good bottle shop. There are better ones in St. Pete (Shep's, Rally's on 4th, Hawthorne Bottle Shop).

We were just in Sarasota. Calusa is your best local bet as mentioned. However, its nowhere near on the way from SRQ to Anna Maria Island. I'd guess its close to a 30 minute drive in the wrong direction, and the other problem is they don't distribute at all.

Other beers I enjoyed that were found on the shelves of Publix and a few package stores (IPA mostly):
Green Bench Sunshine City (red cans) and IPA (green cans) (package store, might also be at Publix)
    Cigar City Jai Alai (Publix)
Swamp Head Big Nose IPA (Publix)
Big Top Circus City IPA (Publix)

Green Bench Sunshine City if you like IPAs

You can usually find fresh MIA mega mix too. And I think ccb guayabera should be around as well.

Thanks everyone! Calusa looks pretty out of the way from the drive from airport to island, plus we land early morning, and looks like they don't open until 2. But will keep an eye out for some of these at stores.

ABC store on US41 or Manatee Ave would have a good beer selection (for Bradenton)

Will be in flying to Tampa and heading down to Sarasota next week, Are The Obsure or Les Amis Gissettes with Kumquats from Green Bench long gone?

Call the brewery/tasting room to see what they have available in real time. I bet the Amis is still around while the barleywine is not.
