Just bought a reduced price mixed 12 pack from Highland Brewery in Asheville NC. The newest bottles were filled at the end of April, 2017. Is this a way for the brewery to reduce older stock that is not moving? I have noticed the same thing from Sierra Nevada and New Belgium. The beers taste great, just wondering why all the beer is no long really fresh.

Typically, its either the way the local distributor deals with older beer or it's the way retail store deal with stock that hasn't sold as rapidly as expected.

The beer typically goes out the brewery door fairly fresh and the delays happen after that.

ok, but packaging named all the beer inside. beer inside had a 5 week difference between newest and oldest bottled.

Keep in mind that the contents of the box are impacted by the brewer's production schedule. Personally, I would expect a tighter bottling range in a mixed pack with four bottles each of three different beers than a pack of twelve different beers.
