In Florida. Have bottles of both the 10/21 bottling date and a 9/30 date. Both stored exactly the same way. Going to side by side tomorrow. The first 10/21 I had definitely "developed an inconsistent flavor profile".

If the whole line-up turns out to have infection problems, my goodness, what a mess for GI.

Totally understand that. I drank mine early on and yes there was a bit of tartness up front it just had not taken over the entire beer yet. Was more or less putting it out there to say that there may be other reasons not all coffee beers taste the same.

My BCBCS tasted a little like a Tart side of the Moon if they Barrel-aged it and added coffee. Hint, Hint Brewery Vivant.

I think we should all take advantage of Barrel-Aged Friday to each drink our stash of BCBS and variants, and do a scientific analysis of those infected. I only have three bottles, but understand some might have a case or more so may need all weekend.

Cracked open the bottle mentioned above and all is well. Good aroma, decent level of carbonation, mouthfeel is alright, alot of oakiness in the finish (a little astringent perhaps). Think it can still sit for a bit and if it wasnt so late I would probably drop a shot of espresso in and have a good old time.

Sucks that others are having issues and I hope GI/Inbev figures out the cause for these problems. Got to say being a homer I was pretty pissed at GI/Inbev for this years changes and traded my whole allotment away but managed to grab a few more regular BCBS for my personal consumption (and glad thus far that I have not been disapointed) .

    Cheers

I opened my third bottle last week after opening one on Black Friday(which was sublime) and for a friend's wedding in mid Feb. Aside from being a bit boozier than I remember, the bottle I opened last week was still great. After having a truly infected experience with BCBCS this year and still being able to taste that awfulness even 2 months later, I feel I am more keenly aware of any "infection" issues. That said, I have a few bottles of both regal and rare and a prop on the way as well as 6 bottles of regular remaining. I am a little worried about them with all of this crying foul....

I had regular, BCBCS, Regal, Prop, and Rare last weekend. BCBCS was the only bad one.

I opened up one last night and it is dated at 10/21/15 12:34. All of my bottles that I have left (7 total) are all the same date. It was definitely off. Tart, undercarbed, slightly metallic and had a kind of chalky mouthfeel imo. I think it tasted like BCBCS without the coffee and I just had my last BCBCS recently so I still have that terrible flavor in my mind. I didn't want this to be true but can confirm that at the very least the bottles that I have gotten and others in the area have gotten that were bottled on 10/21 are OFF. Goose Island is ignoring people who call in as well essentially saying something to the effect of "After testing all of them, our brewers determined that the only variants that demonstrated off-flavors were Coffee and BW. Thanks for dropping us a line." Sigh.

At this point I am so glad I basically missed this release locally in ATL. Got 1 BCBCS and drank fresh. It was fine, maybe a tad off but enjoyable. Glad I don't have to go through this whole hassle.

I've bought more than a case of BCBS, and have probably drank about 6-8 and have not had an issue with any of them. They all tasted spot on, and I would even go on to say that drinking this fresh, it's probably the best batch in recent years.

With all of this talk about possible infection, I panicked and opened a '15 BCBS last night. It was bottled on 9/30/15 and time stamped 0857. It was also the 13.7% ABV version. It was phenomenal and no off flavors whatsoever. The bottle was stored in an unopened case in a Miami closet since Black Friday. Less than ideal conditions to say the least. All of my BCBCS and BW bottles were bad.

Most people who are reporting bottles with September dates seem to have good bottles.
