    Definitely agree on the 'lager' sentiment that has been posted so many times already... it's still pretty easy to come by hearing that. I also can recall 7oz'ers (specifically of Rolling Rock) being referred to as 'ponies' and 'pony bottles', or in that specific instance, 'I'll take a pony of 33'

    Also was just introduced to the term 'belt' by my grandfather-in-law, in referring to a smaller pour of beer... he said nothing beat coming home from work to a nice cold belt of beer... I'm trying to revitalize that term in my daily language!

    I forgot about the term "pony keg" or "sixtel" referring to a one-sixth keg... not sure how regional that terminology is though.

    I don't know about outside San Diego (or perhaps even my own social circle), but:
    Liquor Store = that thing on the corner where you get the case of Bud and the Gallo jug and a pack of jakartas.
    Bottle Shop = the place that sells craft beer and $80 wine.
    22 = 22 oz'er. "Bomber" does appear on menus, though.
    Sixer = six pack
    Twack = twelve pack
    Case = 24 pack

    We usually say "damn that's a good beer" or "I f***ing love beer".

    I think that was a throwback to the old Army Air Corps days....I believe everything that was carried in there had a supply classification of VI...luxury items

    "Rack" is used extensively in Europe, particularly Germany (where I was stationed in the Army for 13 years). It refers to a plastic rack that holds 20 .5L bottles of beer. Home delivery is still utilized there: every week the "beer man" would swing by the house with two racks of beer - one Pils, one Helles - and I was a happy man!

    I've always heard a 6-pack called a sixer and a 22oz bottle has always been a double deuce....we used to call the 7-oz Miller bottles, ponies, but oddly enough 7-oz Old Vienna bottles were called splits (maybe a western NY thing)...in Germany, a rack of beer was a case of half liter bottles (I think 20 per rack),

    Keeping in line with regional alcohol terms, growing up in Buffalo, we called a vodka and iced tea an Ice Pick, never heard it called that anywhere else in the country...staying in Buffalo, Genesee Cream Ale was called Genny Screamers, due the effect they had on your body the next day!!

    Hugger = Koozie in Mobile, Al.
    Grew up on it but haven't heard anyone from anywhere else ever say it. I do still stand beside hugger though, as I like my beer and dammit if it doesn't deserve a hug.

    First time I heard "bomber" was used to describe 22oz growlers, so I assumed (wrongfully) that it only applied to growlers. Until recently I referred to a 22oz bottled beer as a 22, and a 22oz growler as a bomber to distinguish between the two.

    40oz = foty (foh-tee) among the 40z demographic

    That really surprises me that the term was used on an official website like that...always thought it was street slang. Also funny is the heading, "How can I avoid becoming a victim of shoulder tapping?" LOL.

    Around here, asking a stranger to buy you beer (because you're a minor) has always been known as as pulling a "Hey, mister."

    Yeah, it's pretty bizarre. I mean, assuming you know what it means, it's pretty obvious how you "avoid becoming a victim".

    really? this is a "packy store" thread? interesting.

    in rural california they call the Bottle Shop the "Gas Station" or "The Store".

    the slang here is amazing for beer.

    We called this "hey mister(ing)" As in hey mister, I'm only 20 but I have $40 here, if you go grab me a couple cases of natty you can keep the rest.

    As far as others go
    Bottle shop- pretty self explanatory, most people around here either call it a liquor store, or bottle shop.
    Package Store- A term I heard used extensively while living in Virginia to describe a liquor store
    Sixer- A 6 pack of anything, although usually tallboy cans of something.
    Tallboy- a 16oz can of beer
    Local- Example "Hey wanna go grab me a sixer of local." Usually means a flagship year round offering by one of the bigger craft brewers in georgia such as terrapin, or sweetwater.
    Rack- Usually a 24 pack of an american adjunct lager. Can also be called Case, or party box(if bigger then 24, usually a 30pack of natty, or bud light)
