Pliny is about the 8th best thing on the board at Russian River at any given time. Take that for whatever you think it is worth.

I've had both a few times.. Both are CRAZY good. Might have to give the edge to Heady.

I tend to really confuse people when I tell then Heady is the best DIPA I've had, but that I prefer Pliny.

You're comparing 10-11+%ABV beers to Heady. Why?

You pretty much just made the same argument he did, but from Vermont. I love the internet!

I wasn't comparing em, but was more asking why people so often compare the two, as I have heard they are so different. I threw out some of the stronger brews based on similarities in hop character, not necessarily ABV. And I don't like to use ABV as a sole style categorization, as I think sometimes two IPAs with have different ABVs can be just as comparable as two that have different ABVs. All depends.

i know I did. I was agreeing with him, that's why I wrote "obviously".

the point is Vermont with 600,000 people couldn't swing an ok beer on it's own into the top five.

Shhh... lets not tip them off, they need to be sending us Pliny and Heady so we can help them settle this dispute.

I honestly like Pliny over Heady. At one point I felt differently but after having Pliny again I enjoyed it more.

Wow! Just tried "X" beer. So disappointed, how can you even compare it to "Y"? "Y" is sooo much better. X does not live up to the hype.

Have you tried this years release of "X"? What the hell happened? This doesn't taste anything like the 2012 release. What a drop off in flavor. So disappointed. Hopefully next year's batch of "X" will get back on track.

I love them both for what they are. There really is no comparison because they are so different - no apples to apples here. Whenever I have either on in my hand, it usually is accompanied by a big smile on my face!

Not exactly sure what you're trying to say there hoss - your statement really doesn't make any sense.
All I know is Abrasive is a much better beer than Heady, IMO.
I'm pretty sure there are a hell of a lot of people not from MN that would agree with me.

    ...just sayin' (from fact)

BTW you betcha is from Fargo - we don't say that here.:sunglasses:

You can blame Hollywood. It all looks the same from 35,000 feet anyway.

I have seen Pliny referred to here as both an DIPA and an IPA. As far as I know it can't be both, so maybe some people are not giving a fair shake.

No point reviewing an IPA as a DIPA.

I had my first this week. It is not the best beer I have ever had, but I would still drink it all damn day and all damn night.
