So you're a Heady "homer" so much so that you included it in your BA name and you're telling us you don't like another DIPA as much as Heady. Didn't see that coming. I think there are DIPAs out there better than both of them, but taste is subjective so who cares.

Forget Heady vs Abrasive, they are completely different beers. Abrasive is grapefruit overload and Heady isn't.

Abrasive vs Hill Farmstead Society and Solitude (either four or five can't remember) would be a grapefruit showdown.

I'm trying to trade for some heady and abrasive right now so I could finally taste the difference side by side.

to stir things up, post a picture of yourself pouring the abrasive and heady down the toilet - followed by a picture of you drinking a PTE and flashing a thumbs up.

As much as I love my PtE, after the hoops I will have to jump through to get the others I might not be able to get myself to. But LOL we'll see what happens.

There are many awful IPAs. Many that are solid. Many that are great. Many that are excellent. Within that huge world of beers in the IPA or dipa style, you will have some beers that you favor more than the other. Your opinion will likely match up with some people and not others. Attempting to argue that a beer is not top 5 because you like different beers more is a baseless and pointless waste of breath. Many people may absolutely love it, but just because you disliked it does not mean it isn't deserving.

Now, I'm not saying that some beers aren't hyped, but there are so many good beers out there. It becomes an apples and oranges game in some cases and a battle of pure subjectivity. Heady, Pliny, Ghandi, etc. They all have their own character and will appeal to different people. Hell, I love them all. I love sweeter and more "balanced" IPAs and I love the hop heavy ones.

Just drink what you enjoy. It's just beer and there is plenty of good beer out there, so leave what you don't like.

Where do they sell 8 packs of Sculpin? I've only seen them in 6 packs or by the case.

I had the same letdown when I first tried it but that was just because it came in a box with a bunch of Pure Hoppiness and Nelson.

I bought them at Stearns Liquor. Super cute, although, I've noticed I drink way quicker out of cans.

Also... I swear to god it's the best tasting Sculpin I've ever had. Might be the cans, but the tropical/citrus whallop was there. Damn amazing.

    Edit:
I had two of them so maybe they were 6 pack cans. Believe it or not after 4 or 5 Sculpin cans on an empty stomach your math fails. Plus the containers are wierd...

One mans Heady is another mans Pliny: all personal taste. Is Heady more of a palate spanker? Yes, but does that make it better? I'm from VT and love Heady,Lawson's & Hill Farmstead, but one has to respect the old school that is Pliny, even if it isn't your jam.

To jump on board with comparisons - I had both side by side of similar freshness (pliny 2 weeks from production), Heady (2 days) and honestly both delicious. Heady has a bite and spicyness and Pinly just incredibly smooth.

Biggie was easily the better technical rapper, while 2pac was a decent writer/storyteller. 2pac was horribly overrated as a rapper though, mediocre at best. Biggie was clever, yet not a very good storyteller. The ying and yang.

HAHAHAHA I love how much hate is on this thread - so many of you struggle with simple reading skills. I wasn't asking for the opinions of anyone who doesn't drink Heady on a regular basis, as my original point was to see how regular consumer's of Heady reacted to their first experience with Pliny. Cheers to those who provided insight, and Hooked On Phonics dvds are in the mail for the rest of you. PEACE.
