This would be my answer. I love narwhal just the way it is. Bourbon one was way to sweet for me personally

Not a stout but I would say Everett is better than BA Everett.

    This.

I'll throw Big Hugs and Plead the Fifth as a few others have as well.

Strongly concur with this. TenFidy is great stuff as is, but the BA version is definitely on the "wow" list for me.

I have never really liked any of the BA Yeti versions I've had.

While I certainly enjoyed BA Narwhal and BA Old Rasputin, I have no intention to ever buy them again over their conventional versions, which are two of my absolute favorites. In the barrels, the various coffee, chocolate and roasted malt notes which I find so wonderful and distinctive become muted. And what replaces them, taste-wise, is not better or more interesting to me. There is also the fact that these two beers are an exceptionally good value in their normal 4-packs and an exceptionally bad value in their larger format bottles for the BA versions.

I love non-ba Board Meeting, but don't care for the Pappy ba version.

BBA Narwhal is my favorite BBA Imperial Stout but Narwhal a bit better IMO.

Block 15 Nebula and Super Nebula.
Nebula is absolutely amazing, one of my favorite stouts. Super Nebula is thin, slightly unbalanced and quite simply not as outstanding as the base.

What's the BA version of FIS and Serpent?

For Founders I'd just rather nobody fix what ain't broke.

Track #10 was BA Serpent stout with extra stuff added.

Mean Old Tom From MBC. I had the BA version on tap at the brewery sometime last year, and as excited as I was to try it, I was underwhelmed.

I've never had it but I can see this. I think most (of the good) spiced stouts are really all about that perfect blend of spices, putting it in a barrel adds a new element that doesn't usually fit right in.

Ahh makes sense on FIS - love that too. Although a BA might be great too...

You're right, forgot about Track 10 although it also had coffee so not purely a BA Serpent.

    Cheers!

And honestly it was the coffee that ruined it for me (generally don't like coffee beers so I was asking for it I guess).

I prefer Jackie O's Dark Apparition over BBA Dark Apparition. I also prefer Dark Horse Pt5 over BBA Pt5, and SN Narwhal over BBA Narwhal. Don't get me wrong, the BBA versions of those beers are good to great, but the non-BBA versions are even better. I'm sure there are other examples I can't think of off the top of my head.

Agreed! I found it a little on the hot side, as well. I'll revisit in 6 mo. to see where it is.

So far. I think I remember liking Pt5 better than BBPt5. But I don't remember. Need to check again. ;-)
