Regularly available Roggenbier

It was damn good, too. But yeah, I haven't seen it in years.

Part of that Fulton & Wood project that I think is defunct now.

 

I lucked out recently when my local brewpub, Suburban, tapped one. To my knowledge they haven't canned it but they do crowlers. Maybe a local BA trader can hook you up.

Is it safe to ship crowlers? Honestly never thought about it until now.

 

Yeah, it's something tons of people do. I'd probably toss 'em in a ziplock just in case, but it's akin to flying with bottles and cans as far as I can tell. There's always that 5-10% chance something goes awry, but it's rare.

 

I'm pretty sure that I saw that brewery listed fairly far down the list of the most popular beers for the style. I think the last activity of it was 2-3 years ago, so I didn't look further into that one as a possible suggestion for the OP.

Maybe any brewery on my German-American venues spreadsheet would be a candidate to look at for finding a roggenbier.

Flagship out on Staten Island looks to have a Roggenfest on and cans.

When did you see it on Tavour? It's one of my last style ticks as well and I try to use Tavour to tick off the states I have remaining with some success, though the obscure styles I have left aren't really the styles fit for Tavour

It was 3 years ago. I used Tavour for the same reasons, but it was costing me a fortune!

Hoops Brewing in Duluth, MN has on right now. Had it back in July when I was there. Pretty good, even though I am unfamiliar with the style for the most part.

Tough to tick all the styles. I don't think that there is a well distributed sahti or gruit anymore. Gotta keep an eye on the smaller breweries that make interesting stuff.
