So, I'm totally new to kegging and got my setup today. I'm pretty geeked about it, but I've got some sort of problem.

When I turn on the gas on my CO2 tank and it's hooked up to the keg, the pressure-relief valve on the regulator just vents all the gas out. It doesn't seem to be propped open or anything, more like it's just not holding any pressure... am I doing something wrong here? Can anybody help?

Sounds like the valve isn't functioning properly. Could the spring be missing? Is it screwed in all the way? Is it seating properly?

I figured it out. The regulator knob was tightened all the way in. I don't know why that was a problem for the regulator, but it was. This whole process has taught me that I'm fairly mechanical inept.

    Thanks for helping though.

The most important thing to check when you start kegging is for leaks. Arm youself to the teeth with starsan and don't be shy. The rest will come with some tips and some trial and error. Nothing sucks worse than realizing that you have no CO2 left.
