Huh, that's news to me. I thought it was a 750 with a c&c. I bet you're just messin' with me!
Steam cleaning wouldn't remove the whiskey or char from the barrel it would only kill any bacteria from the barrel.
I hope they send as much as last year... although the black currants in this years' model sound... uh... interesting?
Yeah, I really hope it doesn't end up like Abyss. Abyss was so slim up here this year I didn't even bother trying to get any.
its awaiting TABC label Approval -
Ugh..I'm sooooooo sick of hearing that. In other words, it may be here or it may not. It may be here tomorrow or it may be next month. At least its not an IPA or something time sensitive. No offense against you, my frustration is with TABC. Thanks for the update. Any word on case numbers?
None taken -
its not in the capitol warehouse - from what i know...breweries cannot send any product untill the label is approved by TABC...
it might come in the end of July or something (just guessing) anybody remember when it came in last yr? im sitting on a case from last yr( anybody who havent had a chance to get it last yr (BM me) ONLY IF YOU HAVENT TRIED IT otherwise don't bother)
no word on how many cases coming in -
If only you were closer.
no, i don't think that's true.. happens all the time.
Its just a risk since it will have to be sent somewhere else if the label does not pass TABC.
Late to this thread but REALLY looking forward to the coconut IPA!. I'll be out of town two weeks in July - I hope I don't miss it. If anyone can pick up an extra bottle, just in case, I'd be very appreciative.
Founders Devil Dancer has landed in the DFW
CM SA has Devil Dancer and Rübæus. Should be hitting Gabriels and WF next week.
Rübæus is here too. Not for sale until next week is what I heard.
Sam... Sam... why... why don't I live in Austin anymore? I never even found a bottle of that, and I don't think DH ever got it on tap .
EDIT: Actually, I might be in town next weekend to help some friends move... wink wink, nudge nudge.
Rübæus in Houston yet?
Yes sir, I just got some.
Guy handing out 004's at specs the other morning said they were going to get Devil Dancer, too.
i knew about devil dancer, but am more interested in trying out rubaeus.
Jk. Trolling Matt chow
You obviously don't know Chow. This is something he'd buy a 6-pack of. Lacking RAR. Now show him a limited release and that's bound to be 'Chow'd'.
He's still seeking it regardless.
Couple beer managers and my BEK buddy told me Devil Dancer and Rübæus are here in Houston at warehouses, just not at stores yet. We should see them both Monday.
its been sitting in the cooler almost a yr now and i think it can wait another week? lol
see ya next weekend
Had them both today in denton. devil dancer is great, the other... Ugh. not so much, way too fuckin sweet.
I completely agree... Sweet and soda like.
I'm gonna buy some for my wife. I bet she'd love it!
I'm souring the rest of them...
Guess I'll have to make a Spec's run tomorrow morning!
Oh man. If founders threw some bugs in there, they would have a world class sour!
I'm seeing uncle Jacobs hitting some other parts of the country. Anyone hear anything for Houston?
I thought so too, so I did.
It's a crap shoot. Once it hits it will most likely be Spec's downtown only. That is just speculation on my part.
Thoughts on what this is?
Specs twitter "I know this is an incredibly vague and veiled statement but plan on lunch @Specs_Beer_Dept Smith Street tomorrow!"
not sure if they steam cleanthe barrel. I do know they try to make the barrels as neutral as possible so any whiskey, wine or other liquids that were in the barrel from a previous use is not imparted in to their beer that is being aged. Luckily they left the 2 BCBS barrels they let us use for our homebrew project intact for the RIS and weeheavy me puit in them.
The only way to remove any flavor from the barrel would be to soak them in water for a long time to remove tannins. Or to age a beer in it. My assumption is that they use a portion of whiskey barrels but they do not make up a large percentage when it comes time to blend.
Tomorrow as in today because it was posted yesterday or TOMORROW tomorrow?
