During a recent trip to Amsterdam I drank a number of De Molen stouts, barleywines and quads and became enamored of them, particularly the barrel aged ones. I see them around here and there, sporadically, anyone have a tip on a reliable spot to find them in town, in the Hudson valley or New Jersey?

Let me know if you find access to them as I'm after some too

Yeah it's crickets in here. No hazy juice bomb no care apparently...

I kid, kinda. May need to just keep eyes open and luck into a bottle here and there.

Their stouts, barleywines and quads sit as shelf turds at Winooski Beverage in Vermont. I stare at them and think to myself - why in the hell isn't anyone buying these? I mean, I've had them and love them, but perhaps the only thing I can think to myself is that the state I live in is not necessarily into these styles.

Edit: Apologies, my post doesn't necessarily help you in trying to find the beer you're looking for in the area you're looking for them in, sorry, not exactly sure what to tell you in that area you're looking for them in.

Thanks for the heads up though - I get to winooski a few times a year so maybe I'll grab a bunch the next time I'm there!

I haven't been for probably 2-3 years, but I feel like New Beer (lower manhattan) used to have a decent selection

No problem, depending your "aged" preference for above styles, they could be up to your standards (yes, those bottles have been sitting there for a while, if you don't mind that). Me, mostly why I don't buy the De Molen IPA's, they've been sitting there too long. But the rest of that stuff, well, yeah, quite good, IMO.

Kinda glad I did mention this here in this thread after all, right on!

Kinda a win win situation for ya - getting some Vermont goodness and De Molen at a one stop shop, can't go wrong. :beers:

Half Time in Mamaroneck used to have a ton of shelf sitting De Molen. Pre-aged gems everywhere

I've had some of their stuff on tap at Monk's in Philly. That doesn't really fit your criteria but it's not super far so...

Yeah really only interested in their darker beers - can't see buying their ipas in general but in Vermont? I can see why those would sit for ages! I was really impressed with their BA barleywines and stouts overseas and drank a bunch of them. Loved the 11.2oz bottle and price tag was like 5-6 euro. Certainly not expecting that in the states.

yup, exactly! When I want a "hop break," De Molen's high ABV-ed stuff certainly fits the criteria. I'm sure I could google the exchange rate since I don't know how 5-6 euro goes off the top of my head, but pretty much everything at Winooski Bevy is between 6.95 and 9.95 if I remember correctly. I could check the next time I'm there, just roughly 10 minute drive from my house, and mostly likely I'll be there sometime this week.

I've seen them around NYC at various stores ranging from Bowery WF to any of the milk and hops or beer and cheese shops to Broadway Dive.

A quick Beermenus search for "De Molen" pulls up various bottles around town at different locations.

Deciccos Ardsley is an option. I think they have a few stouts (probably not barrel aged ones).
