I am in shock, my condolences naturally go to his family
he was honest, forthright, a genuine wit and most importantly a real lover of beer
no doubt he will be very much missed here.

Really sad to hear, he was always very friendly and funny on here, even if I never met him in person.

Simon was 100 times better live. Great company, modesty knowledgeable as fuck and a great ambassador to everything he loved.

Tragic news. I only had the privilege to meet him once, but he was a top bloke.

    RIP.

If I can't find an Orval to toast him with then a bomber of punk will have to suffice at some point this weekend. Along with a pork pie. And an egg and chorizo sandwich. And a four-pack of M&S Belgian lager. It's what he would've wanted.

Couldn't agree more! Will have to get a bottle of Punk to toast him (no chance of getting an Orval any time soon), maybe followed by a bottle of red wine - pretty sure that's how he liked it.

Still can't believe this, such sad news.

So tomorrow looks like it'll be toasting Simon with Orval and a Home Brewery anniversary beer I have from 1978 - I remember him posting on his blog about collecting the bottles as he was from his area. I have pork pies as well, so all I need is that sandwich and the lager. Might deep fry some black pudding as well.

I'll definitely be drinking some Orval tomorrow. It's the least I can do to honour a bloke that made a real impact with his fellow UK BAs in a most positive way.
