You know the ones, the ones that sit on that rim inside the post and are nigh impossible to remove without bending or damaging the "legs."

Well, I've found a really easy way of removing them without doing any damage, and they come out in less than 5 seconds. I know some of you just leave them in, but for those that are anal about cleaning/sanitizing here ya go:

That's a dentists SS pick, you can get a kit of 3 on Amazon for around $10. The other tools in the kit aren't particularly helpful...but that one is a winner.

Anyhow, hope this helps some of you out.

In the in/out posts there are "popper valves" that open when the disconnects are engaged and allow no flow when the disconnects are removed.

I knew it was good to pop pesky-poppets and have used them to ouster ornery-orings, but who knew it could also be used by dentists? Suppose just another useful spin-off from the craft beer industry to help our medicos . . .

I could have sworn I've seen these at Harbor Freight. I'd start with a toothpick or skewer, but the idea is solid. Thanks for the post.

I keep a small flat head screwdriver in my keg kit and use it for popping poppets and getting under o-rings. The head of the screwdriver is probably a little less than 1/8" wide - I just give it a quick tap straight down from the top and it comes right out.

I think OP was talking about the newer replacement type posts where the poppet is not supposed to be removable, but can be removed with some careful fishing with a pick. (If you buy an italian corny or a replacement post that's not NOS, that's the design.) It sounds like you might be talking about the older OEM style posts, where the poppet is supposed to be removable, but sometimes sticks? I'm guessing that, because if you knocked the newer type out with a screwdriver, it would bend the legs.

Oh, sorry - I didn't realize that - I haven't seen those newer types yet. Thanks for pointing it out.
