would be pretty funny if batch 2 is soured since it was more coveted while sitting in the barrels longer.

There is actually a Pappy S'hour beer from Taps. It won't be bottled as I understand, though. I had it on tap at TFP anniversary over the summer. Quite a complex beer. It was an adventure through the warming process.

Wow... completely misunderstood that... tell me it's not really soured??? That's awful. Sucks for the people that held on to it. I've got some friends that aren't going to be happy... haha

B1 says 2013 on the label. Just looked at it recently. Can't remember what b2 says.

Its well known that a lot of batch 2 is now sour. Sucks cause it was so damn good fresh.

Opened my last batch 1 like 5 weeks ago and it was killer

I asked Jazz at El Cerrito, a couple weeks ago, if they were planning a new batch. He said they were trying something different this time. He didn't say what that meant.

This is what I have heard from them:

40+ bourbon barrels were filled while the current guys were gone starting up Bottle Logic and Barley Forge. Upon returning to TAPS, they walked into a GIANT mess in which every single one of those barrels was infected and ultimately had to be dumped. All of them... This basically killed the Remy brand, and they guys wanted to distance themselves from that mess. Those guys had to not only rebuild their barrel program from the ground up, but also their whole team. They said the whole batch of The Velvet Hog that won a GABF Gold medal made it's way into McKenna bourbon barrels, and became the foundation of the program. Apparently multiple batches of The Velvet Hog also made their way into barrels and we should expect bottle releases of that in the near future. They also brewed an American Strong Ale with dates & figs & put that into Woodford Reserve Barrels 8 months or so ago. Last I heard this was also slated for a bottle release by years end. They did brew a new imperial stout recipe in collaboration with El Cerrito, which is also sitting in various hard-to-come-by barrels. I thought I heard that they were getting ready to fill more El Cerrito barrels soon too. All in all, it sounded like those guys walked into one of the worst situations imaginable. Dumping 40 barrels of beer doesn't sound enjoyable!
