My father-in-law absolutely loves this beer, and it's what my husband used to buy for him every Christmas. However, it hasn't been available for the last couple of years here in Australia. I have almost no experience with beers (not by choice; I have a mild allergy to alcohol), but I was hoping to find something to replace the Trois Monts to make both my husband and my father-in-law happy. Any suggestions for a replacement would be greatly appreciated.
Well it’s a bière de garde from Northern France, hence the greater area and region of Lille/Dunkirk. To be honest I don’t know what you’re asking precisely? A replacement as a similar French bière de garde or an Australian one? If it’s the former, La Goudale or Jenlain are also great, can’t speak for their availability in the antipodes and probably also very old, dusty bottles on the shelves.
Just a replacement to purchase for my father-in-law for a Christmas gift, something with similar characteristics in its flavor. I'm not sure what is currently available in Australia that he might like.
