Certainly. I would hope we as a community would be fair all the way around. But if someone is willing to spend more than you doesn't mean it's too much at the same time.

They become inactive, won't count against you. You have zero active warning points.

Fair - I am more thinking someone with only 1 or 2 trades offering up BVDL for some Heady (randomly ridiculous example) where a "are you sure? have a search for what BVDL trades for" might be an appropriate heads up.

I can't really say. If someone knows what their beer is in the whole "grade scale" and they want what they want then I don't see the harm.

In your context of 1-2 trades and appear new- perhaps that would be a be a bm situation I think.

If someone was offering up a BVDL and looking for say, 2 cases of HT...I'm not going to question that.

4 years ago when you could just show up to the brewery and buy a pallet, maybe, but now..nope.

thanks for clarifying - that helps. My understanding is that posting in someone's ISO should be a relatively infrequent thing - a BM should generally suffice unless it is something that benefits from being posted publically

Oops. I missed that. Just saw the stuff about trade history, warnings, etc. I'm proud of my trades!

This is a good compromise, other than every reply having to be approved before it's shown. Hopefully it works.

Manually approving replies isn't a consideration. It's either this works or no replies at all.

No pressure on those of you who can reply. :grimacing:

Good compromise. I hope it helps clean up the thread. Wish it could also clean up the offers, shame that the thread had become soooo over come by greed. With over 100 trades I've seen the thread steadily become overwhelmed with people trying to win instead of fair trades. I've almost pulled out of trading in favor of regular partners taking care of each other. Any way, that is a little off topic. Todd, nice stay. As @LehighAce06 was trying to say, just need to make sure those that can reply, do so accordingly or lose the privilege.

Thanks Todd, this is a great addition! (Coming from someone that can't post). The nonsense was getting a bit ridiculous on people's posts. People seem to take constructive feedback better via PM regardless, so I think this can only help!

One question though, is there a way that one can post responses on your own post? It seems to be good so that one can update their post without having to repost in 3 days, especially being that you can't delete your own posts. For instance, you put FT: X and Y ISO: Z. Then someone comments saying you might need to add or PM's you saying that, it would be nice to be able to say - I can add another X or Y. Or would you guys ever consider bringing back the editing of your own post? I think a majority would agree that the abuse of threadshitting is/was way more than abuse of people editing/reposting.

Cheers, and nice new addition, should make for an all around happier part of the community!

    Unfortunately, this isn't currently supported.
You already can. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/beer-trading-updates.257058/#post-3891494 So if the OP gets a helpful reply, they can adjust their offer accordingly.

Wow, I'm surprised it's that small. I meet everything except the trade requirement because 80% of my trades were pre feedback days.
If I'm that close to the 3% there must be a whole of of assholes or a whole lot of noobs out there.

Interesting approach. Would love to see how this pans out, but I think it will work out for the better.

One thing to consider is the count of 25 trades or 25 trades with unique trade partners. Plenty of people trading with the same partner, most don't log past the 2 trades (I don't), but I can see people possibly trying to fast track by making a bunch of legit local trades with the same few partners.

ETA: FWIW, I think 20 unique trades makes for a better cutoff point. That's a pretty high goal. 3% of traders can respond seems like we will be missing quite a few knowledgeable and helpful folks.

This seems like a fair compromise. Guess time tells how it works out.

I have to say that I just read the criteria and changes etc and...it makes me sort of scared to post a reply in the FT ISO section. I think I'm going to see which posts will not get removed first.
Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy that it will cut the trolling and threadshitting by probably 95%, but I still have my doubts which posts would be considered helpful. Would responses like "I traded the beer you're ISO for XXX a months ago, while you're only offering XX (or the opposite)" be considered helpful?

You have nothing to fear if your intentions are truly to be helpful. And you probably won't see which posts get removed.

I'm on board with these changes, things were getting out of control. I think the only possible drawback, and it's a minor one, might be a scenario when someone posts an ISO that's off - especially if it's something that's out of season, no longer available, draft only, etc - they might be facing a possible inbox explosion of people politely educating them on the matter.

Until a "privileged" member posts a comment, others might go on unaware that the issue has already been pointed out to the OP. Minor inconvenience for the OP perhaps, fielding multiple messages all telling him/her the same thing. If they aren't checking messages for a while and those start pouring in, they might clog an inbox.

Like I said, minor detail. Maybe this is a deal where those able to reply could do the rest of the forum a solid by addressing it in a comment or something?

EXCELLENT CHANGE coming from someone who can't comment on posts and was not a fan of the reviewing beers change! I never posted comments on ISO/FT posts ever telling people they were off. Just let crickets do the job. So many garbage posts. I love that it is somewhat difficlt to achieve the privilege of posting. Please don't make it easier. Thanks!
