That's what the feedback system is for.

You can edit your original post, for an unlimited amount of time now. Therefore you can edit that original post and put in either of those comments. It gives some customization for OP that may not meet the regular requirement without looking like a bump

I think my only disappointment with the change is the ability to tag people you know are specifically interested but don't have time to scour the ISO's.

I think overall this is a positive change though, keep up the good work BA. I think everyone appreciates how you are ever evolving.

    Good point!

Not difficult to create BM that includes both parties (the ba who posted the ISO/FT and the ba who you know is a good potential trade match.)

I think in general now that the reply policy has changed, there are now two types of posts that I've been seeing.
    1) The kind where the respondent appropriately asks for additional information on the ISO / FT or some other type of constructive request that would appropriately warrant an edit from the OP (like someone not following the normal ISO / FT format); and
    2) The kind where the respondent essentially says that the offer is not good enough (which in my view is the same as thread dumping, even if it's done in a polite manner). This kind of reply essentially destroys and blows up the OP's post.

I think those who do the latter, even if they are correct and the criticism is constructive, should PM the OP rather than blow up the post.

I think that if it's constructive and helpful than it's not dumping. A la someone offering 3 Shelf IPAs for BA Abraxas. I think someone saying that the OP should take a look at what BA Abraxas is trading for to get a better understanding is helpful

I still think that it warrants a PM. The BA Abraxas example is an obvious egregious example where everyone would agree that the offer is insufficient. However, I've seen some replies in the past which called out an offer as imbalanced / insufficient that I disagreed with and I would think some others who have done a lot of trading would have disagreed with as well. I've even had people dump on my own threads and still closed the deals.

Because there's a lot of grey area of what constitutes a sufficient vs. insufficient offer and everyone's tastes and preferences are different, I think it's better in general to privately message the OP if you think the offer is unfair in some way.

That's fair. I think most would agree that the biggest issues come with the NEW HOT beer. People testing the waters seeing how much they can get. Right or Wrong that's going to happen with every hyped release

I don't mind the new rules for the most part, except for the 250 posts. I don't feel a need to post randomly about beer, but with me being an active trader with 68 trades, 100% feedback for over 2 years, not sure what posting has to do with any of that....

Er...the new privilege is about posting. Having 250 posts means you've hopefully had enough experience to know how to comport yourself well in an online forum.

It's about posting in a trade forum, which I have done, many times. But those post don't count. Whatever... it's clear this is the way things are going forward.

Very nice, and very welcome change. I think we should get a new slogan to go hand in hand with this:
    "Beeradvocate.com - Where replying is a privilege."

If you've ever traded on Facebook or some other forums where people with zero intentions of trading simply compete on finding and posting the dumbest Cosby or Spongebob memes, this is a fantastic change.

The folks who posted the ever enlightening "BM sent" replies will be crushed by this. How will they mark their territory now, and how will the OP ever know a BM was sent? I think this is an interesting, thoughtful implementation and am curious to see if it helps cut down with trading hype, and the constant value manipulation as the hidden agenda of most replies. That would be the ideal outcome. But if nothing else, it will cut down on the junk replies such as my example above.

As a relatively quiet member of 6 years who does not currently have the ability to reply in the ISO:FT forums, I am hope this is a positive development for the trading community. I look forward to seeing if I feel like posting replies in the forums in 2031 when I am due to gain the privilege. I point that out because I hope this helps all traders realize you do not need reply privileges, extra mod, less mod or anything else to get trades done and have good trade partners. You just need to have a love of beer, good intentions, and a desire for others to have the same quality of experience you desire for yourself.

i think its odd that people who've been on the site for years and completed dozens of trades (as has been mentioned in earlier posts) now may not be able to offer their opinions but people who just joined the site TODAY can throw up trade offers the same day. when i joined the site over a year ago, there was a rule in place that prohibited new members from posting trade offers for a month, i believe. as a new trader, i think that helped me learn the rules, accepted norms and value more than anything. might be helpful to reestablish that rule so new members who want to trade can spend some time observing, instead of just getting crickets or hoping that someone takes the time to DM/PM/BM them to or that someone with the privilege catches their FT/ISO.

I like this change even though I can't post. I am sick and tired of everyone who thinks they know everything replying to trading posts. Even though I don't 100% agree with the criteria at least some more experienced traders can respond to the crazy offers.

Posting an Iso:ft and commenting on said iso:ft is not the same thing. You're mixing apples up with oranges.

Also, nobody forces a new member to trade on their first day. If they're smart they may choose to spend time observing other trades, interacting with members and learning what trades for what.

If they choose to lost a trade thread before they do that ( maybe not so smart?) and they get crickets and/or no feedback explaining how they're off......where's the responsibility for that lie?
